By all appearances, Planned Parenthood’s new acting president Alexis McGill Johnson<\/a>, immediately replacing<\/a>\u00a0ousted emergency room physician Dr. Leana Wen as president, is evidence that Planned Parenthood hasn’t changed. Johnson is a political activist, much like\u00a0Wen’s predecessor<\/a>, Cecile Richards, who\u00a0suddenly\u00a0announced<\/a>\u00a0her resignation in 2018. Richards\u2019 stated personal goal was to build the abortion corporation into the largest \u201ckick butt political organization<\/a>\u201d to reinforce Planned Parenthood\u2019s\u00a0cushy political alliances<\/a>. She presided over numerous abuses<\/a>, including\u00a0accusations of fraud<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0the cover-up of child sexual abuse<\/a>\u00a0— all\u00a0while Planned Parenthood\u2019s actual health services and patients were\u00a0plummeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alexis McGill Johnson previously served as\u00a0a Planned Parenthood Action Fund Board member and as Chair of the Planned Parenthood Political Action Committee. She also served nearly a decade\u00a0on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Her fundraising talents were spotlighted by Planned Parenthood — which, after taking half a billion in taxpayer dollars, recently netted nearly $245 million in excess revenue over expenses, according to the corporation’s latest (2017-2018<\/a>) annual report.\u00a0Planned Parenthood noted Johnson’s service as “Board Chair from 2013 to 2015” and the fact that she “expanded the organization\u2019s philanthropic reach to fund critical initiatives to increase access to care and meet the needs of Planned Parenthood\u2019s patients.”<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0video<\/a> interview with Planned Parenthood Action, Johnson claims she began her activism with Planned Parenthood after seeing a billboard, which was erected by the pro-life African American group Life Always in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood. The message, which she claimed caused her “anger,” simply stated, “The Most Dangerous Place for an African American Is in the Womb.”<\/p>\n

In the same interview, Johnson called former president Bill Clinton’s controversial Surgeon General, Joycelyn Elders, her “role model.” According to Newsweek<\/a>, Elders’ “tenure came to an abrupt end after she suggested that masturbation should be taught in schools… as\u00a0Newsweek\u00a0<\/em>reported in 1994<\/a>, she favored handing out condoms to public-school children, inspiring Rush Limbaugh to nickname her the ‘Condom Queen.'”<\/p>\n
