Five states in 2019 have passed pro-life measures requiring abortionists to inform women using the abortion pill about the possibility of <\/span>abortion pill reversal<\/span><\/a>. But the simple act of providing potentially life-saving information to women has been viciously opposed by pro-abortion activists — for instance, in North Dakota, where the pro-abortion American Medical Association (AMA) joined with the Center for Reproductive Rights to <\/span>launch a legal challenge<\/span><\/a>\u00a0against the new mandate in court.<\/span><\/p>\n

To justify their opposition, abortion activists are engaging in fear-mongering and the spreading of misinformation about abortion pill reversal. A recent <\/span>article<\/span><\/a> published in the Huffington Post is a good case study in these types of deceptive scare tactics, which abortion activists are using with greater frequency.<\/span><\/p>\n

False Claim #1: Abortion pill reversal is junk science<\/b><\/p>\n

The HuffPost article cites attorney Molly Duane with the pro-abortion Center for Reproductive Rights, who claims, \u201cThe notion of \u2018abortion reversal\u2019 is based on junk science.\u201d But as the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) <\/span>explains<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in a 2019 position statement\u00a0that<\/span> \u201cusing progesterone to counteract the effect of mifepristone is the logical extension of simple principles of toxicology and poison control.\u201d AAPLOG adds, \u201cThere is a very long and solid history of safety of the use of natural progesterone in pregnancy.\u201d <\/span>AAPLOG executive director\u00a0<\/span>Donna Harrison recently told Live Action News that there are \u201cmultiple studies” which suggest the legitimacy of abortion pill reversal, including Davenport 2017,\u00a0Yamabe 1989, and Baulieu 1989.<\/p>\n

Many abortion activists with ulterior motives are pinning their hopes on a new <\/span>study<\/span><\/a> that, as Live Action News’s Carole Novielli\u00a0<\/span>has shown<\/span><\/a>, should be viewed with great suspicion. It is being funded by organizations with deep ties to the abortion industry, including investments in abortion pill manufacturer DANCO. The study clearly lacks independence, as its backers all stand to gain financially from an outcome that would support the unfettered and widespread adoption of the abortion pill and the discrediting of abortion reversal. The <\/span>study<\/span><\/a> itself, which is being conducted by California abortionist Mitchell Creinin, involves a disturbing methodology that will involve the death of 40 preborn babies.
