Three pro-abortion foundations and one anonymous donor are funding research and subsequent studies using flawed data<\/a> from the so-called Turnaway study. The funding organizations include the the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation,\u00a0“and an anonymous foundation.”\u00a0 The latest study, as documented in part one of this series<\/a>, was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. The authors, as we will document here, are all well connected to abortion and have an interest in making sure it continues unabated.<\/p>\n

Wealthy population control advocates:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation gives\u00a0millions of dollars<\/a> to abortion groups like\u00a0NARAL<\/a>,\u00a0Planned Parenthood<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0National Abortion Federation<\/a>. They fund<\/a> Gynuity Health Projects, UCSF<\/a>, and the\u00a0Guttmacher Institute<\/a>.\u00a0A stated goal<\/a> of Hewlett has been “to expand access to abortion.”<\/p>\n

\u2022 The\u00a0David and Lucile Packard Foundation<\/a>‘s\u00a0previous website<\/a> made clear their goal is “expanding access to safe abortion.” Today Packard’s website<\/a>\u00a0says it exists to \u201censure that women receive quality abortion care by supporting advocacy in targeted states and addressing the clinic and provider shortage.\u201d The Foundation is a\u00a0substantial donor<\/a>\u00a0to Planned Parenthood<\/a>, the\u00a0National Abortion Federation<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0NARAL<\/a>, and an original\u00a0investor<\/a>\u00a0in the abortion pill manufacturer,\u00a0DANCO<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation, also an investor<\/a> in DANCO<\/a>\u00a0(granting $250,000 in\u00a02002<\/a>, 2004<\/a>, and annually)\u00a0grants<\/a>\u00a0large amounts of money to pro-abortion groups. Gerbode\u00a0has been described by\u00a0Inside Philanthropy<\/a>\u00a0as funding the \u201cnext generation of abortion doctors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Authors Lauren J. Ralph is a Bixby<\/a> staffer\u00a0and\u00a0UCSF-Kaiser BIRCWH<\/a> scholar and is associated with ANSIRH\u00a0and UCSF.<\/p>\n

Author Eleanor Bimla Schwarz, MD<\/a> is a professor<\/a> at University of California, Davis and\u00a0Bixby<\/a>.\u00a0Schwarz served as\u00a0deputy editor<\/a> of the Journal Contraception<\/a> and Fellow of the Society of Family Planning (SFP)<\/a> where she received<\/a> a 2018 grant for over $200,000\u00a0to “develop and pilot a free, online, training resource titled ‘Medication Abortion in Primary Care.'”<\/p>\n

Authors Lauren J. Ralph,\u00a0Daniel Grossman, and Diana G. Foster are each associated with the following:<\/p>\n

1. Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH<\/a>):<\/strong>\u00a0Founded<\/a>\u00a0by abortionist Felicia H. Stewart, previously\u00a0awarded<\/a>\u00a0by Population Council. Stewart served on executive committee<\/a>\u00a0of ARHP,\u00a0boards\u00a0of NARAL<\/a> and\u00a0National Abortion Federation<\/a>\u00a0and was\u00a0medical director<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0staff physician<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Planned Parenthood facilities<\/a>\u00a0in California. ANSIRH\u00a0publishes<\/a>\u00a0workbooks on abortion training they\u00a0call<\/a>\u00a0an \u201call-inclusive curriculum with tools to train new abortion providers\u201d and is part of UCSF\u2019s\u00a0Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health.<\/a><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health<\/strong>:\u00a0A taxpayer-funded abortion training program<\/a> orchestrated out of\u00a0\u00a0University of California, San Francisco<\/a> (UCSF). The\u00a0program<\/a> prides itself on abortion as a focus and\u00a0claims<\/a>\u00a0its work has \u201cled to new methods of abortion and expanded the abortion care workforce.\u201d Bixby\u00a0<\/a>trains abortion providers though its\u00a0Ryan Residency Training Program<\/a>.\u00a0Bixby also\u00a0claims<\/a>\u00a0to be \u201cone of the few research institutions to unflinchingly address abortion, investigating multidimensional aspects of abortion care in the United States and globally.\u201d\u00a0Bixby has\u00a0funded<\/a>\u00a0the Guttmacher Institute (here<\/a>).<\/p>\n
