{"id":205544,"date":"2019-06-27T06:11:10","date_gmt":"2019-06-27T11:11:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=205544"},"modified":"2019-06-27T01:12:33","modified_gmt":"2019-06-27T06:12:33","slug":"pro-choice-politicians-out-touch-pro-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-choice-politicians-out-touch-pro-life\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Pro-choice politicians&#8217; out of touch with America, says pro-life group&#8217;s pre-debate ad"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The action arm of the organization which organizes the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., aired a six-figure ad on MSNBC ahead of the Democratic debates Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cConsensus\u201d ad features a number of women discussing the consensus among Americans shown by a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poll-75-percent-abortion-restricted\/\">recent Marist poll<\/a>, which reveals that 8 in 10 Americans &#8212; and\u00a0<em>even 6 in 10 Americans who identify as pro-choice<\/em>\u00a0&#8212; think \u201cabortion should happen only during the first three months of pregnancy \u2013 at most. That\u2019s consensus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mZF6jje6D4g\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The six women in the ad call out \u201cpro choice politicians\u201d without naming any candidates in particular. \u201cMany of them want abortion legal, right up until birth,\u201d said the ad, stating that this extreme position is supported only by 1 in 10 Americans. \u201cAnd these pro-choice politicians listen to them, not us,\u201d says the ad. \u201cIt\u2019s time for this extremism to end. It\u2019s time for our voices to be heard. It\u2019s time for politicians to stop working for the pro-abortion lobby and join the national consensus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ad comes at a time when the majority of Democratic presidential candidates have adopted hard line positions on abortion, out-of-step with the vast majority of Americans &#8212; even those who support abortion and want it to remain legal. The Democratic party <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/democratic-partys-2016-draft-platform-goes-further-on-abortion\/\">platform<\/a> advocates abortion with almost no restrictions, repealing the Hyde Amendment (which prevents federal taxpayers from funding most abortions for low-income individuals), funding for abortions abroad, and a commitment to overturn pro-life laws on the federal and state level.<\/p>\n<p>The candidates recently attended a Planned Parenthood event in South Carolina, as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-democratic-expand-abortion-taxpayers\/\">reported<\/a>\u00a0by Live Action News, where out of 20 candidates, <em>every single one<\/em> promised to expand abortion, with some promising to codify it into federal law and get rid of the Hyde Amendment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hyde-amendment-saved-millions-democrats-gone\/\">Banning taxpayer-funded abortion has saved 2 million lives. Democrats don\u2019t like it.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t support [Hyde\u2019s] repeal, you shouldn\u2019t be the Democratic nominee,\u201d New York mayor and presidential candidate Bill de Blasio has <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BilldeBlasio\/status\/1136331048260984836\">said<\/a>. Democratic hopeful Kristen Gillibrand even recently compared pro-life views to those of <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/democratic-hopeful-kirsten-gillibrand-racism-pro-life\/\">racists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Hyde Amendment recently came into the spotlight as frontrunner Joe Biden first voiced his support for &#8212; and then his opposition to &#8212; the rider, which prevents taxpayers from paying for abortions with federal tax dollars, and which has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hyde-amendment-saved-millions-democrats-gone\/\">saved over 2 million lives<\/a> over the 43 years it has been enacted.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">As the Democratic debates begin tonight, March for Life Action will set the record straight on America\u2019s pro-life consensus. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3ObyRTR1W7\">pic.twitter.com\/3ObyRTR1W7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 March for Life Action (@MFLAction) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MFLAction\/status\/1143934268499824641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 26, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile 2020 Democratic candidates are taking more radical stances on abortion by the day, the polling numbers are clear: 60% of Democrats want abortion limited to \u2013 at most \u2013 the first three months of pregnancy,\u201d said March For Life president Jeanne Mancini in a <a href=\"http:\/\/marchforlifeaction.org\/2019\/06\/26\/march-for-life-action-launches-six-figure-ad-buy-featuring-the-pro-life-consensus-ahead-of-the-democratic-debate\/\">statement<\/a>. \u201cA majority of Americans also oppose any taxpayer funding for abortion.
