{"id":205165,"date":"2019-06-23T13:31:11","date_gmt":"2019-06-23T18:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=205165"},"modified":"2019-06-22T00:51:39","modified_gmt":"2019-06-22T05:51:39","slug":"massachusetts-planned-parenthood-closes-good","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/massachusetts-planned-parenthood-closes-good\/","title":{"rendered":"WIN: Massachusetts Planned Parenthood inexplicably closes for good"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>As the state of Massachusetts debates the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/Bills\/191\/SD109\">ROE Act<\/a>,&#8221; an abortion bill that would remove protections for abortion survivors, the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) has announced that it is closing one of its central Massachusetts <a href=\"https:\/\/studentsforlife.org\/2019\/06\/21\/victory-massachusetts-planned-parenthood-shuts-down\/?fbclid=IwAR3-Lgne1YdlCeHgLvvviYsewHWyCb64P3zeEJ6n8_ZaE-3nnNyoUymflQQ\">abortion facilities<\/a> for good.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/85\/74\/8574a813-3851-4536-8642-03fef7a04ba3\/closure_letter_fitchburg_patients_draft2.pdf\">a letter<\/a> dated June 7, 2019, PPLM stated, &#8220;After careful consideration of our organization&#8217;s mission and a comprehensive analysis, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) has decided to permanently close its Fitchburg Health Center and reallocate resources to our other health centers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the Planned Parenthood website, there are now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/health-center\/ma\">just four<\/a> Planned Parenthood locations in Massachusetts. In comparison, there are about <a href=\"https:\/\/findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov\/?zip=Massachusetts%252C%2BUSA&amp;radius=100&amp;incrementalsearch=true\">200<\/a> Federally Qualified Health Centers in the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qtgqxvaV-8U\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the closing, PPLM said it will double the hours of the Marlborough Planned Parenthood Health Center, keeping it open six days a week, and will continue to keep their Worcester location open six days a week as well. While it is unclear exactly what caused the closing of the facility, Students for Life of America notes that Massachusetts is one of a few states that allows taxpayer dollars to be spent on abortion, and the governor just recently signed a bill to funnel millions of dollars into the state&#8217;s abortion corporation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-closes-women-health-care-hundreds-clinics\/\">When Planned Parenthood closes, women find real health care at hundreds of other clinics<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In March 2019, Governor Charlie Baker signed legislation giving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/news\/2019\/03\/gov-charlie-baker-approves-8-million-to-reimburse-family-planning-clinics-that-lose-federal-title-x-money-under-trump-policies.html\">$8 million<\/a> to abortion facilities that were set to lose money under the new Protect Life Rule instituted by the Trump administration, which bars $60 million in Title X family planning funds from going to abortion vendors,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/studentsforlife.org\/2019\/06\/21\/victory-massachusetts-planned-parenthood-shuts-down\/?fbclid=IwAR3-Lgne1YdlCeHgLvvviYsewHWyCb64P3zeEJ6n8_ZaE-3nnNyoUymflQQ\">said Students for Life<\/a>.
