On June 15, several Indiana pro-life organizations will hold a rally for women’s safety<\/a> in South Bend. The rally comes on the heels of a May 31 ruling from a Senior Judge of the U.S. District Court of Southern Indiana allowing a new abortion facility in South Bend to operate without a state license. According to an Indiana Right to Life press release<\/a>, Whole Woman’s Health Alliance’s (WWHA) original application for state licensure was denied because\u00a0\u201cBased upon the Department\u2019s review, the Commissioner finds WWHA failed to meet the requirement that the Applicant is of reputable and responsible character and the supporting documentation provided inaccurate statements and information.” Despite this, Judge Sarah Evans Barker’s ruling allows WWHA to open and operate without the license.<\/p>\n

“Judge Barker\u2019s decision to side with the abortion operators will put Hoosier Jud and lead to the deaths of hundreds of unborn children,” said Indiana Right to Life President and CEO Mike Fichter. “We expect WWHA will now open without an abortion license, meaning Hoosiers have no way to know if they are complying with health and safety rules or not. Judge Barker\u2019s decision is another example of a court trampling states\u2019 rights when it comes to any measure that protects life.”<\/p>\n

Indiana Right to Life and St. Joseph County Right to Life are teaming up for the rally, and enlisting nationally known speakers Destiny\u00a0Herndon-De La Rosa of\u00a0New Wave Feminists,<\/a>\u00a0Eric Scheidler of\u00a0Pro-Life Action League<\/a>, Lily Hutkowski of\u00a0Students for Life<\/a>,\u00a0Mark Harrington of\u00a0Created Equal<\/a>, and\u00a0Ryan Bomberger of the\u00a0Radiance Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cJudge Evans Barker\u2019s ruling undermines state authority and threatens Hoosier moms and families,” said\u00a0St. Joseph County Right to Life Executive Director Jackie Appleman. “We\u2019re calling on people of good\u00a0sense around the state to join us in standing against this abuse to human rights and states\u2019 rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
