The Connecticut anti-pregnancy center bill<\/a> fueled by NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut died in the State Senate on Wednesday after lawmakers failed to take up the bill for a vote before the end of the session. The bill, which sought to control how pregnancy centers in the state advertised their pro-life services, had passed in the House.<\/p>\n

HB 7070 – An Act Concerning Deceptive Advertising Practices of Limited Services Pregnancy Centers<\/a> was born after a pregnancy center moved into the same building as NARAL Pro-Choice CT. That pro-abortion group saw the pregnancy center’s ad which simply stated, “Pregnant? Need help?” and deemed it “deceptive.”<\/p>\n

The bill would have mandated that state pregnancy centers not use “false, misleading, or deceptive” advertising and accused them of having “limited services” simply because they don’t offer abortion — which pro-abortion groups see as the preferred service<\/em> for an unplanned pregnancy.<\/p>\n
