Whole Woman’s Health in Peoria, Illinois, will be closing its doors permanently, according to 25News<\/a>. The unlicensed abortion facility is part of a nationwide chain known for its health violations, including the Peoria location.\u00a0It’s not known why the facility is closing, but Whole Woman’s Health facilities routinely fail inspections<\/a> across the country, and the Peoria facility recently had to send a woman to the emergency room after botching an abortion in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n

President and CEO Amy Hagstrom Miller provided a statement on the facility closure to 25News. \u201cFor four years, Whole Woman\u2019s Health has been honored to provide compassionate abortion care to Peoria, Illinois, and the surrounding rural communities, where abortion is traditionally unavailable yet desperately needed,” she said. “Whole Woman\u2019s Health is committed to doing all that we can to serve the communities we are in, but unfortunately, it is no longer sustainable to keep our doors open in Peoria. We thank the residents of Peoria and central Illinois for welcoming us and trusting us to serve their community with safe, compassionate abortion care.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hagstrom Miller has long been an outspoken advocate of abortion, even supporting extreme bills<\/a> that would legalize late-term abortion at any time, for any reason. The Whole Woman’s Health chain was also the lead plaintiff in Whole Woman\u2019s Health v. Hellerstedt<\/a><\/em>, a lawsuit which successfully challenged a Texas law that would have held abortion facilities to the same standards as ambulatory surgical centers, and mandated hospital admitting privileges for abortionists.<\/p>\n

During an ambulance call in March, instead of telling the 911 dispatcher the information needed to get their patient the medical care she needed as quickly as possible, the Peoria Whole Woman’s Health staffer refused to give details, more concerned about how the emergency would affect the facility’s reputation than the patient’s safety.<\/p>\n
