Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region, the last abortion facility<\/a>\u00a0in the state of Missouri, could lose its license and close by Friday. In a last-ditch effort to keep its doors open, Planned Parenthood is suing the state.<\/p>\n

Also known as Reproductive Health Services, the facility is referred to by pro-lifers as the most dangerous abortion facility in the country, having injured more than\u00a072 women<\/a>\u00a0severely enough to require emergency transport to the hospital. Most of those injuries were due to hemorrhaging after surgical abortions, according to Operation Rescue<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The facility has also faced numerous health violations, including a repeat violation of using expired medications and supplies as old as six years, repeatedly using single dose injectable meds for more than one patient, failing to record abortions after 18 weeks as legally required, failure to properly sterilize instruments between patients, failure to train employees on infection control procedures, failure to run background checks on employees, failure to record patients’ vitals before discharge, and multiple other violations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“The issues that we are talking about today are centered around two key issues: Planned Parenthood not following the law and Planned Parenthood not protecting women’s health,”\u00a0said Governor Mike Parson in a press conference.<\/p>\n

Parson stated the Planned Parenthood has known for years that their license would expire on May 31, 2019. In March, annual inspections were performed and numerous violations were found. The State Health Department issued a statement about Planned Parenthood’s violations of the law and poor care for women. An investigation was opened, but the corporation refused to fully cooperate. The abortion corporation agreed to address two of the state’s requests: changing which facility staff provides state-mandated counseling to patients, and adding a pelvic exam for abortion patients.<\/p>\n

However, Planned Parenthood is refusing to allow the health department to interview all of the abortionists who commit abortions at the facility, claiming that they are not all employees of Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n

Despite all of this, Planned Parenthood claimed that the state government is harassing them and that they were given “no explanation” as to why the government would want to investigate them.<\/p>\n

“This is not a drill,” said president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Dr. Leana Wen<\/a>. “This is not a warning. This is a real public health crisis. This has nothing to to do with medicine and everything to do with politics.”<\/p>\n
