Social media exchanges have the advantage of being a space where everyone can be seen and heard. But when abortion activists argue that some defective people should be able to be killed for someone else&#8217;s choice, they have the disadvantage of being a space where everyone can be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/secularprolife\/posts\/2382349688497034?__tn__=-R\"><em>seen<\/em> <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/secularprolife\/photos\/a.197922026939822\/2383521438379859\/?type=3&amp;permPage=1\"><em>heard<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">All the lives you&#8217;re saying aren&#8217;t worth living? What they see as an abstract argument for an abortion in a particular case is an argument that these individuals\u00a0 &#8212; whose mothers chose life &#8212; should not exist. And many of these people have been speaking out.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the pro-abortion argument that says,\u201cI would rather a child be aborted than unloved and abandoned,\u201d some who have been in foster care gave voice to their outrage:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cFeminists\u201d have been telling my autistic little sister and I all day that we aren\u2019t convenient enough to exist right now, because we were born to a drug addicted single mother and different fathers.<\/p>\n<p>But our biological mother chose LIFE.<\/p>\n<p>I will not stay silent.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Adopted?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Adopted<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Quinn Weimer (@quinn_411) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/quinn_411\/status\/1129506052351905800?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 17, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Well-known pro-life activist Ryan Bomberger <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ryanbomberger\/status\/1129418859361050624?s=21\">wrote and tweeted<\/a> about how he was conceived in rape, pushing back against the exploitation of victims\u2019 pain. Abortion neither un-rapes a woman, nor makes her forget her trauma. It doesn&#8217;t even protect her from being re-stigmatized. On the contrary, abortion is a perfect tool to enable a rapist to re-victimize a woman. And in a response to Bomberger&#8217;s tweet, one woman shared her <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/meggymish\/status\/1130493873778831360\">heartbreaking experience<\/a> of being pregnant after rape.<\/p>\n<p>The daughter of a single mom who became a pregnant teenager also spoke up for her existence and was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JessTellsYa\/status\/1129454702570217472\">attacked for it<\/a>. Those who missed the point declared <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/paarthurnax96\/status\/1129621320080080896\">it is better<\/a> for someone to exercise choice than to respect the daughter&#8217;s inherent right to exist.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">By pro-choice logic, my brother, sister &amp; I should&#8217;ve been aborted because my mom was a single mother. More so my brother; he&#8217;s autistic. My daughter should&#8217;ve been aborted too. I was 20 &amp; unmarried when she was born, &amp; her father left us. We&#8217;re all doing fine now. Just sayin&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jessica Law (@JessTellsYa) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JessTellsYa\/status\/1129275070516322304?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 17, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Destiny Herndon-De la Rosa of New Wave Feminists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BxXlFdnlKhL\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\">told the story of her mother<\/a>. As a teenage mom, what she needed was strength, support, someone to believe in and empower her, rather than tear her down and tell her she wasn\u2019t strong enough without abortion. This idea <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Beds1BwHIYo\/\">has been key<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Bxp8L-YD5Ud\/\">New Wave Feminists<\/a>: support women and build them up.\u00a0&#8220;You are strong enough to do all this on your own, if need be,&#8221; says <a href=\"https:\/\/scontent-mia3-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/fr\/cp0\/e15\/q65\/14495346_1267861546569297_6233304493963688350_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&amp;efg=eyJpIjoidCJ9&amp;_nc_ht=scontent-mia3-1.xx&amp;oh=13dd5ed94b401f06e302c7803e991075&amp;oe=5D4EB8C5\">a card<\/a> published by the organization. &#8220;There\u2019s a new life inside of you right now. And you are the only one who can save it. You can do this. And we are here to help. Be a hero. Save your child\u2019s life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the week, actress Jameela Jamil\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jameelajamil\/status\/1128013069790076929\">declared<\/a> she had had an abortion, and that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jameelajamil\/status\/1128013071295762432\">it was<\/a> \u201cthe best decision she ever made \u2026 for the baby [she] wasn\u2019t ready for.\u201d This is another instance of the argument \u201cbetter dead than in foster care.\u201d A user pointed out that if one is alive, one can meet people and grow, and that adopted lives are worth living.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">as a kid in foster care, j can tell you i would rather be where i am right here with my foster family rather than being aborted and not being able to love. to live. to meet new people and to grow.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Renee Lester (@Renee_lest) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Renee_lest\/status\/1128420229804175362?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 14, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Often, the loudest and most urgent cry from the pro-abortion side is the ability for women to have abortions for babies with health problems, even though for certain issues, like spina bifida, amazing intrauterine surgery is available to help give babies the best chance at life. But according to some, they should be allowed to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Bm3zSDegEiW\/\">killed on account of their disability<\/a>, which is nothing short of ableism.
