John Rogers (D) responds to Donald Trump Jr. calling him out for his remarks about killing &#8220;unwanted kids&#8221;, says Trump Jr. is &#8220;proof that mothers ought to have the right to have an abortion because he is evidently retarded or crazy.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YUHTee8puw\">pic.twitter.com\/YUHTee8puw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealSaavedra\/status\/1124070001772830723?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 2, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><strong>5\/2\/19<\/strong>: This week, Alabama House legislators <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-abortion-alabama-house-ban-abortions\/\">voted to ban<\/a> nearly all abortions in the state, by a vote of 74-3. However, the skewed vote reflects the fact that pro-abortion Democrat legislators chose to walk out before the vote was taken. Alabama State Rep. John Rogers, one of the Democrats who remained, made some comments on the House floor during the bill&#8217;s debate that have shocked the public. But perhaps the reason for the shock is that Rogers merely\u00a0<em>said aloud<\/em> what many abortion supporters feel (but don&#8217;t often voice in a public arena) about preborn children who born into less-than-perfect circumstances.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/father-abortion-rights-minority-unwanted\/\">\u2018Father of abortion rights\u2019 called minority children in America \u2018unwanted\u2019<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m not about to be the male to tell a woman what to do with her body. She has a right to make a decision herself,&#8221; Rogers said, adding, &#8220;Some kids is unwanted, so you kill &#8217;em now, or kill &#8217;em later. You bring &#8217;em in the world unwanted, unloved, and you send &#8217;em to the electric chair. So you kill &#8217;em now, or kill &#8217;em later. John Rogers (D) questions what happens when the child is born \u201cretarded\u201d and \u201chalf deformed\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HMV7PCVffP\">pic.twitter.com\/HMV7PCVffP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kyle Morris (@RealKyleMorris) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealKyleMorris\/status\/1123736183778041859?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 1, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alreporter.com\/2019\/05\/01\/near-total-abortion-ban-passes-the-house-of-representatives\/\">Alabama Political Reporter<\/a>, after Rogers&#8217; remarks about &#8220;unwanted&#8221; children, &#8220;State Rep. Rolanda Hollis, D-Birmingham, read a poem, &#8216;If my vagina was a gun you would protect its rights\u2026\u2026..'&#8221; Rogers also reportedly said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em> \u201cI may bring a bill to force all men to have vasectomies. That would end this whole debate. There would be no more abortions and eventually no more voters.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Rogers said that as a Catholic he is personally Pro-life; but that the legislature should leave options open for women.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Rep. Rogers said, \u201cSome parents can\u2019t handle a child with problems.\u00a0 It could be retarded. It might have no arms and no legs.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rogers doesn&#8217;t <em>sound<\/em>\u00a0&#8220;personally pro-life,&#8221; given \u00a0his references to &#8220;retarded&#8221; and &#8220;unwanted&#8221; children whom he apparently believes are better off dead. These are <em>pro-abortion<\/em> sentiments &#8212; discriminatory views about differently-abled individuals as well as those born into impoverished or unplanned situations.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump&#8217;s son, Donald Trump, Jr., was one of many people to tweet about Rogers&#8217; remarks:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This is stomach curling and makes Ralph Northam look like a moderate on abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Every Democrat running for President needs to be asked where they stand on this. To those families, those children are wanted. Those children are not better off aborted than placed with loving families.
