Average cost of abortions\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/learn\/abortion\/in-clinic-abortion-procedures\/how-do-i-get-an-in-clinic-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>\u00a0notes the cost of a surgical abortion:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>An abortion in the first trimester can cost up to $1,500, but it\u2019s often less. The price of an abortion depends on where you get it (hospitals are often more expensive), and whether or not you have health insurance that will cover some or all of the cost. The cost also varies based on how long you\u2019ve been pregnant \u2014 a second-trimester abortion usually costs more.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It also says\u00a0this\u00a0about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/learn\/abortion\/the-abortion-pill\/how-do-i-get-the-abortion-pill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cost<\/a> of a medication abortion:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The abortion pill can cost up to around $1000, but is often less. The cost of a medication abortion varies and depends on where you get it and whether or not you have health insurance that will cover some or all of the cost.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>However, this year, Live Action News was able to locate more specific pricing at Planned Parenthood&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early Abortion\/ Medication Abortion Pill<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Planned Parenthood\u2019s former \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\">special affiliate<\/a>\u201d the Guttmacher Institute, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/sites\/default\/files\/factsheet\/fb_induced_abortion.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a> that the average amount paid for an abortion in a nonhospital setting at 10 weeks\u2019 gestation and with local anesthesia was $508, in 2014. The average paid for an early medication abortion (up to 9 weeks\u2019 gestation) was $535.<\/li>\n<li>However, at Planned Parenthood, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-indiana-kentucky\/care\/before-your-visit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cost<\/a>\u00a0of medication abortion in Indiana or Kentucky is $600, while in Kansas it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/files\/2214\/7646\/9673\/Payment_and_Preparation_Instructions_-_Medical.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ranges<\/a> from $650-$700 and $700- $815, and in California Planned Parenthood\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/patients.pposbc.org\/education\/documents\/PP-1251-ENG-Medication%20abortion%20packet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">charges<\/a> $600- $750.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For our measurement, we will use $508 for early surgical abortions and $600 for medication abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what a medication abortion entails, according to former abortionist, Dr. Anthony Levatino:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lRDnVSMr5j0\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In-Clinic Surgical Abortion<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Guttmacher&#8217;s reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/evidence-you-can-use\/medicaid-funding-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">median cost<\/a>\u00a0at 20 weeks was $1,195 in 2014.<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/patients.pposbc.org\/education\/documents\/PP-1251-ENG-Medication%20abortion%20packet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Orange and San Bernardino facilities<\/a> published a general range of $500 to $3,000.<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood&#8217;s Ohio facility <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/2e\/3b\/2e3b2839-65b9-4abc-8c31-610d001ee85a\/english_surgical_abortion_visit_doc_072517_28129.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">breaks<\/a> abortion costs down as follows:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">13 \u2013 13.6 weeks $625<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">14 \u2013 14.6 weeks $650<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">15 \u2013 15.6 weeks $800<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">16 \u2013 16.6 weeks $825<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">17 \u2013 17.6 weeks $950<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">18 \u2013 18.6 weeks $1000<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">19 \u2013 19.6 weeks $1100<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For our measurement, we will average Planned Parenthood&#8217;s Ohio abortion prices and use the $1,195 price for abortions past 21 weeks, although they are likely higher.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/half-planned-parenthoods-non-government-services-revenue-comes-abortion\/\">Half of Planned Parenthood\u2019s non-government revenue comes from abortion<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Abortions in the second trimester are often called dismemberment abortions as described in the video below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jgw4X7Dw_3k\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Number of abortions by trimester<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Live Action News broke down the 332,757 Planned Parenthood abortion numbers as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Medication abortions: 103,155 (31 percent per Guttmacher\u2019s most\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/sites\/default\/files\/factsheet\/fb_induced_abortion.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent<\/a>\u00a0abortion data)<\/li>\n<li>Abortions 13-15 weeks 20,631 (6.2 percent per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/state-abortions-happening-later\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guttmacher 2014.<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Abortions 16-20 weeks 12,645 (3.8 percent per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/state-abortions-happening-later\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guttmacher 2014.<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Abortions 21 weeks and greater 4,326 (1.3 percent per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/state-abortions-happening-later\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guttmacher 2014.<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>First trimester surgical abortions: 192,000 &#8212; the remaining balance of abortions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. Grants (taxpayer dollars) \u2013 $563.8 million<\/li>\n<li>Non-Government Health Services Revenue \u2013 $365.7 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Percentage of non-government health services revenue: 52%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If we divide Planned Parenthood\u2019s estimated abortion revenue (<strong>$190,274,370<\/strong>)\u00a0 by the total non-government health center revenue of\u00a0<strong>$365,700,000<\/strong>, we find that abortion makes up 52 percent of Planned Parenthood\u2019s non-government health services revenue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Percentage of non-government health services plus tax dollar revenue: nearly 20.5%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, even if we include the $563.8 million in government dollars with the $365.7 ($929,500,000 million), abortion revenue can be estimated at 20.5 percent of all Planned Parenthood\u2019s health services revenue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Percentage of all Planned Parenthood revenue: 11.4%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Then, if we include all revenue sources ($1,665,100,000), abortion revenue would exceed an estimated 11.4 percent.<\/p>\n<p>According to our calculations, over the past few years, estimated abortion revenue has steadily risen at the abortion corporation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>2017: Estimated abortion revenue: $190,274,370<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/half-planned-parenthood-funding-abortion\/\">2016<\/a>: Estimated abortion revenue: \u00a0$177,631,103<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/half-planned-parenthoods-non-government-services-revenue-comes-abortion\/\">2015<\/a>: Estimated abortion revenue: \u00a0$164,404,332<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Between 2016 and 2017\u00a0government funding to Planned Parenthood (over half a <em>billion<\/em> dollars annually) rose nearly four percent (3.69%) even though the abortion vendor has been embroiled in numerous\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthoods-many-abuses-reasons-defund-abortion-corporation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scandals, abuses and fraud<\/a>, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/aidingabusers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">covering<\/a>\u00a0up for child sexual predators as well as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/employees-planned-parenthood-mask-crack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disgruntled employees<\/a>, claiming a toxic work environment and pregnancy discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>With increasing abortions generating millions in revenue for Planned Parenthood (while national abortion totals <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cdc-abortions-decline-lowest-roe\/\">decrease<\/a>) is it any wonder why actual health services like cancer screenings and well women exams at Planned Parenthood have <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-more-abortion-less-healthcare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decreased<\/a>?
