Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABMs) of family planning are forms of family planning (also known as natural family planning) which have been used in religious circles for decades. Now, the empowerment of understanding the female menstrual cycle is going mainstream, thanks to organizations like Natural Womanhood<\/a><\/span>, apps like Natural Cycles<\/a><\/span>, and fertility monitors like Daysy<\/a><\/span>. As Live Action News has previously reported<\/a><\/span>, FABMs can have significant medical impact as well. Medical professionals trained in NaProTechnology<\/a><\/span>\u00a0use menstrual cycle charting as a starting point to get to the root cause of abnormal bleeding, recurrent miscarriage, PMS, and infertility, among other conditions. <\/span><\/p>\n

Still, FABMs\u2019 growing popularity faces challenges from organizations reporting outdated effectiveness statistics and incomplete information on these evidence-based methods. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist\u2019s website<\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0for example, states that <\/span>\u201cIn the first year of typical use, 12\u201324 women out of 100 will become pregnant.\u201d In reality, FABMs range in effectiveness<\/a> from 95.2% to 99.6%.<\/span><\/p>\n

FABMs should matter to pro-lifers not only because hormonal birth control has serious health risks<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and because its chemical makeup can destroy a just-begun human life<\/a><\/span>. FABMs should also matter because pro-lifers want what\u2019s best for both women and their children, and every woman deserves to benefit emotionally and physically from the knowledge of what\u2019s going on in her body.<\/span><\/p>\n
