The “most dangerous” abortion facility in the nation, as some have dubbed it, sent its 72nd patient in ten years<\/a> to the hospital on April 24, 2019. Most of the medical emergencies at Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region have been due to hemorrhaging after surgical abortions, reports<\/a> pro-life watchdog group Operation Rescue. The most recent patient is believed to be an African-American woman. She was wheeled out of the center on a gurney to a\u00a0waiting St. Louis Fire Department ambulance. A fire truck was also present at the scene.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region is the only abortion facility currently operating in Missouri. Columbia 40 Days for Life participant Kathy Forck told Operation Rescue that abortion traffic has dropped dramatically at the facility since the passage of a Missouri law requiring that centers dispensing the abortion pill \u201cobtain written contracts with two ob-gyns who have local hospital admitting privileges and who agree to be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to treat complications from medication abortion,\u201d according to The Kansas City Star<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Women are instead being referred 16 miles away, to Belleville, Illinois, for the abortion pill, which carries with it significant risks of complications, despite the fact that many women think of it as more private or more \u201cnatural.\u201d<\/p>\n
