Just months earlier, in November, Scatton was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma or DIPG, an inoperable brain tumor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This morning shortly before 4am, Dana left us to be with the lord,&#8221; her family wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/prayfordana\/?__tn__=%2Cd%2CP-R&amp;eid=ARDJMbNWnoAhh1YKKi_ngoxiqHm4e6xvEgiIxoCrv5nQ951IHe0sA9l7TzQrtzKGupAqyUeRLklVHVqk\">Facebook<\/a>\u00a0this week. &#8220;We may never have the right things to say to truly honor the amazing, smart, loving, caring, passionate, incredibly beautiful and free spirited mother, daughter, niece, sister, cousin, friend and independent woman Dana was every day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fprayfordana%2Fposts%2F2234001546690675&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"738\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Scatton, the youngest of nine children, was given just three to nine months to live when she was diagnosed. 90 percent of those diagnosed with DIPG die within 18 months. Immediate treatment may have helped her to live longer than doctors expected, but radiation could have harmed her preborn daughter. Therefore, she chose to wait as long as she could before beginning treatment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/brave-mom-cancer-inspired-choose-life\/\">This brave mom with cancer inspired many worldwide by choosing life<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Baby Aries was born by emergency C-section at 33 weeks gestation and was breathing on her own. Scatton&#8217;s health continued to decline, though she fought hard.
