Taxpayers."},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Abortion training is being orchestrated out of a <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/129688664\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of California, San Francisco<\/a> (UCSF)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/bixby-resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">program<\/a>\u00a0which receives millions in government dollars. UCSF trains abortion providers through their\u00a0Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health , which <a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claims<\/a>\u00a0to be &#8220;one of the few research institutions to unflinchingly address abortion, investigating multidimensional aspects of abortion care in the United States and globally.&#8221; Bixby claims their work has:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Led to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/12972012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new methods of abortion<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/research\/pci.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expanded\u00a0the abortion care workforce<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Increased the number of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/23528190\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">highly trained abortion providers<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to Bixby&#8217;s annual reports, in <a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/sites\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/files\/bixby_annual_report_111515.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2014<\/a>, nearly $22 million dollars (52 percent) of Bixby&#8217;s revenue came from the taxpayer, although the report does not specify whether the funds were state or federal.\u00a0By <a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/sites\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/files\/bixby_annual_report_121616_webfinal.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2015<\/a>, although Government dollars made up only 18 percent of Bixby&#8217;s revenue, it totaled over $18 million in taxpayer dollars.\u00a0Bixby is conveniently located in California, which permits millions in taxpayer dollars to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/california-taxpayers-half-billion-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fund<\/a> abortions and has <em>no<\/em> requirement that abortion numbers be <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/understanding-abortion-reporting-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for data analysis.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_200276\" style=\"width: 871px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-200276\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-200276\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/UCSG-Bixby-Gov-Funding-18-million-in-2015-to-2016-AR.jpg\" alt=\"Image: UCSF Bixby Gov Funding 18 million in 2015 to 2016 AR\" width=\"861\" height=\"499\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/UCSG-Bixby-Gov-Funding-18-million-in-2015-to-2016-AR.jpg 861w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/UCSG-Bixby-Gov-Funding-18-million-in-2015-to-2016-AR-300x174.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/UCSG-Bixby-Gov-Funding-18-million-in-2015-to-2016-AR-768x445.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/UCSG-Bixby-Gov-Funding-18-million-in-2015-to-2016-AR-700x406.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/UCSG-Bixby-Gov-Funding-18-million-in-2015-to-2016-AR-500x290.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-200276\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">UCSF Bixby Gov Funding 18 million in 2015 to 2016 AR<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Taxpayer dollars sent to UCSF for fetal research include millions from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). A recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnsnews.com\/news\/article\/terence-p-jeffrey\/hhs-extends-contract-make-humanized-mice-aborted-baby-parts-another\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>\u00a0published by CNS News breaks down the dollars of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/health-science\/trump-administration-halts-study-that-was-using-fetal-tissue-to-discover-a-cure-for-hiv\/2018\/12\/09\/954fec2a-fbcd-11e8-83c0-b06139e540e5_story.html?noredirect=on&amp;utm_term=.54361d04ed22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multi-year<\/a> contract:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>[T]he Department of Health and Human Services has granted contracts to UCSF to make \u201chumanized mice.\u201d&#8230; According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fpds.gov\/ezsearch\/search.do?indexName=awardfull&amp;templateName=1.5.1&amp;s=FPDS.GOV&amp;q=Humanized+Mouse+Models+for+HIV+Therapeutics+Development\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contract information published on the Federal Procurement Data System<\/a>, the new three-month extension will pay UCSF $521,082\u2014bringing the total payments the federal government has made to UCSF for this contract to $10,596,960. If the government continues renewing the contract through Dec. 5, 2020, HHS would end up paying UCSF a total of $13,799,501.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In addition to government (taxpayer) dollars, Bixby receives\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/sites\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/files\/BixbyCenter_10YearReport_2009.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funding<\/a> from a number of organizations <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/whos-who-abortion-pill-reversal-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">collaborating<\/a> to expand abortion, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hewlett.org\/grants\/university-of-california-at-san-francisco-for-support-of-the-bixby-center-for-global-reproductive-health-research-and-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">William and Flora Hewlett Foundation<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation<\/li>\n<li>The Fred H. The embryo appears at approximately 6 weeks and grows 1 mm per day thereafter until 12-14 weeks. After 12 weeks, fetal flexion and extension make measuring length more challenging and using the fetal biparietal diameter (BPD) is preferred.
