Speaking from Sisters of Life, a convent which serves as a home for women and their children in New York, Dolan told women experiencing unplanned pregnancies that he and the Sisters would be &#8220;honored&#8221; to serve them. \u201cWe are enthusiastically committed \u2014 and have been for half a century \u2014 to providing women with a warm, embracing, life-giving alternative,&#8221; he said during a press conference. &#8220;We\u2019re afraid that some women are getting the impression that there\u2019s no help out there \u2014 that abortion is the only choice that she has.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But for abortion activists, this heartfelt and compassionate offer of aid meant nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Abortion activists frequently slam pro-lifers for only caring about women when they&#8217;re pregnant, and abandoning them the moment the baby is born. Yet when someone like Cardinal Dolan offers material support, these same abortion activists sneer at him for it. Jen Gunter, an OB\/GYN and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/gynecologist-explains-medically-indicated-late-abortion-jennifer-gunter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortionist<\/a>\u00a0&#8212; and CNN &#8220;expert&#8221; &#8212; reacted with a classless remark to\u00a0a tweet from Dolan highlighting the press conference.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Any pregnant woman can come to the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NY_Arch?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NY_Arch<\/a>, and we will do all in our power to assist you, so that you never feel that you have no alternative except an abortion. Instead, she derided him, with a mocking tweet in response.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">So you are an amateur gynecologist? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4d1I0FPdqh\">https:\/\/t.co\/4d1I0FPdqh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jennifer Gunter (@DrJenGunter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrJenGunter\/status\/1098350163590995968?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 20, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The convent Cardinal Dolan was speaking from, Sisters for Life, offers a home for women and their babies who don&#8217;t have one. They provide new mothers with food, diapers, strollers, and other practical needs. Many other pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes, both Catholic and secular, provide similar resources. Yet abortion advocates ignore this, continuing to insist that pro-lifers have no interest in helping pregnant women beyond forcing them to keep babies they don&#8217;t want.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also interesting that Gunter responded by mockingly asking if Dolan was an amateur OB\/GYN, as if only doctors are qualified to help pregnant women. Why is this interesting? Because in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/new-york-nixes-protections-preborn\/\">New York<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2013\/10\/10\/politics\/california-nurse-practitioners-abortions\/index.html\">California<\/a> (and possibly coming soon in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/legal-illinois-third-trimester-abortion\/\">Illinois<\/a>), <strong>non-physicians<\/strong> can legally commit abortions, something that the abortion industry has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-fights-non-physicians-commit-surgical-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">long been agitating for<\/a>. Abortion advocates often argue that abortion <em>shouldn&#8217;t<\/em> be limited to just physicians, and that other health care providers should legally be allowed to commit them too &#8212; and yet, apparently the bar for helping women if it means choosing life instead of abortion is that the person providing resources must be a qualified gynecologist. The hypocrisy is astounding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VIDEO: <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/magical-birth-canal-satire-pro-lifers\/\"><em>\u2018Pro-birther\u2019 myth satirized by pro-life creators of \u2018Magical Birth Canal\u2019<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gunter&#8217;s tweet serves as yet another reminder that for the abortion industry, the goal <em>isn&#8217;t<\/em> to do everything possible to help pregnant women. It&#8217;s about agenda over aid, abortion over life, no matter what the woman herself might want.
