This will make it the third abortion provider in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/breaking-u-s-supreme-court-texas\/\">ruling in their favor<\/a>, the Texas abortion chain Whole Woman\u2019s Health, plagued with a history of health and safety violations, closed in December <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressnews.com\/news\/local\/article\/Despite-legal-victory-Whole-Woman-s-Health-13542988.php\">due to stricter regulations<\/a>, leaving Planned Parenthood to absorb their customer base. Previously, the Texas Department of State Health Services <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fabulous-abortion-clinic-suing-texas-caught-using-dirty-instruments\/\">found<\/a> Whole Woman\u2019s Health of San Antonio lacked \u201cacceptable environmental controls in cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization,\u201d while other locations also used dirty instruments and under trained staff.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">If anyone thinks that Planned Parenthood is not committed to abortion, please think again: &#8220;Planned Parenthood gives San Antonio its third abortion facility&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WV2YIvUieD\">https:\/\/t.co\/WV2YIvUieD<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KABBFOX29?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KABBFOX29<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/txlege?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#txlege<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TexasAllianceforLife (@TXAlliance4Life) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TXAlliance4Life\/status\/1096584007758815232?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 16, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>President and CEO of Planned Parenthood South Texas, Jeffrey Hons, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressnews.com\/news\/local\/article\/Planned-Parenthood-South-Texas-expands-abortion-13618193.php\">hailed the move<\/a> as an opportunity to reach more people to commit more abortions. \u201cWe wanted to have a larger footprint and increase our service delivery capacity in this kind of central part of the city,\u201d he said. Last year, Planned Parenthood\u2019s Medical Center location committed 1,453 abortions, of which 74 percent were medication abortions. The San Pedro location is closer to the city center, and according to Hons, \u201cequidistant from the greatest number of people in the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-abortion-without-restrictions\/\">How Planned Parenthood encourages unlimited, unrestricted abortion<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the country, and president Leana Wen calls providing abortions the organization\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-prez-abortion-mission\/\">core mission<\/a>.\u201d According to Planned Parenthood&#8217;s annual reports, contraceptive services <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/health-abortion-profits-planned-parenthood\/\">declined from 34 percent in January of 2014 to 28 percent in January of 2018<\/a>, but abortions <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-more-abortion-less-healthcare\/\">increased by 3.54%<\/a>. In fiscal year 2017, the corporation committed 332,757 abortions in fiscal year 2017, up by 11,373 abortions since 2016. This is the highest number of abortions that Planned Parenthood facilities have committed since 2011.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/planned-parenthood-gives-san-antonio-its-third-abortion-facility\">WOAI San Antonio<\/a>, in 2014, Texas had 44 abortion centers statewide.
