The abortion lobby claims that late-term (or “later”) abortions are\u00a0“rare” and that they are needed because of the health<\/em> of the mother or the baby. But “health” is an ambiguous term which\u00a0may include a host of reasons<\/a>, including familial and emotional health. And a teaching module published by an abortion training\u00a0program<\/a> at the\u00a0UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health<\/a>\u00a0reveals that physical health is almost never given as a reason<\/strong> for why a woman aborts after the first trimester.<\/p>\n

The module is presented by abortion provider Dr. Eleanor Drey, the medical director<\/a> of the Women’s Options Center of San Francisco General Hospital<\/a>, which commits abortions into the second trimester. She is also on staff at the Bixby Center at the University of California at San Francisco. Drey is embedded in the abortion industry and is a regular<\/a>\u00a0donor<\/a> to Planned Parenthood’s former \u201cspecial affiliate<\/a>” and research arm, the Guttmacher Institute, which publishes statistics on abortion.<\/p>\n

Drey\u00a0addresses the reasons for abortions late in pregnancy<\/a>\u00a0in the module,\u00a0\u201cAbortion after the first trimester.”\u00a0Using a graph, she explains,\u00a0“By far and away most abortions happen by thirteen weeks or less. So, to talk about abortion care after the first trimester, when we put this in context, if you were to add up all those small bars together that represents about 11 percent of US abortions.”<\/p>\n
