The term “late-term abortion” has received a lot of attention lately from abortion supporters who, in their all-too-obvious effort to avoid discussion of what an abortion late in pregnancy actually entails, feel the need to claim<\/a> that pro-lifers have invented<\/a> the supposedly ‘medically inaccurate’<\/a>\u00a0term in order to “distort the truth<\/a>.” But is any of this true, or is this just much ado about nothing? Let’s take a look.<\/p>\n

PRO-ABORTION CLAIM<\/strong>:\u00a0‘Late<\/span>-term\u00a0abortion<\/span>‘ has no medical definition and is not used in a clinical setting or to describe the delivery of\u00a0abortion<\/span>\u00a0care later in pregnancy.\u00a0LifeSite News<\/a>\u00a0reported on this claim, writing:<\/p>\n

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists health policy VP Dr. Barbara Levy and Physicians for Reproductive Health fellow Dr. Jennifer Conti told CNN<\/a>\u00a0that late-term abortion is \u201cmedically inaccurate and has no clinical meaning\u201d and an \u201cinvention of anti-abortion extremists to confuse, mislead and increase stigma,\u201d respectively. Dr. Jennifer Gunter, an abortionist and pro-abortion writer who bills herself as \u201cthe Internet\u2019s OB\/GYN,\u201d claims anyone who uses \u201clate-term abortion\u201d is either illiterate or a liar.<\/em><\/p>\n

Even the ACOG has released a so-called “fact sheet”<\/a> claiming “The term ‘late-term abortion’ has no medical definition and is not used in a clinical setting or to describe the delivery of abortion care later in pregnancy.”<\/p>\n

Oh, really? Well, perhaps the ACOG isn’t using that term, but abortionists — you know, the people who do abortions for a living and practically nothing else? — use that term, and they use it often.<\/p>\n

THE TRUTH<\/strong>: The term “late-term abortion”\u00a0has been used by abortion industry and media alike for YEARS.\u00a0According to the Washington Examiner<\/a>, the term “has been widely used in\u00a0medical journals<\/a><\/u>\u00a0and within medical groups.”<\/p>\n

Examples of the phrase “late-term abortion” used by the abortion industry itself:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Capital Women’s Services website<\/a>\u00a0(screenshot below) uses the phrase “Late-Term Abortion Care….”<\/p>\n

Abortionist\u00a0Merle Hoffman used the phrase “late-term”\u00a0several times<\/a> in her book<\/a>, “Intimate Wars.”<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood Advocates of AZ<\/a>\u00a0quoted former president Faye Wattleton in an article<\/a> from six years ago, published February 4, 2013:<\/p>\n

Because in Roe v. Wade the court said that a woman\u2019s health and life always had to be preeminent. We now have a court that says health doesn\u2019t matter.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

READ:\u00a0There\u2019s no way to make late-term abortion seem better, media. Just stop.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

And only weeks ago, Planned Parenthood’s Director of Political Communications, Erica Sackin,\u00a0used<\/a> “late-term” to refer to abortion in a FOX interview (see 2:14). I guess that must mean Sackin is an “illiterate, lying, anti-abortion extremist.” Right, CNN abortion “experts”?<\/p>\n
