Governor Andrew Cuomo immediately signed the Reproductive Health Act into law and then celebrated by lighting the state up pink.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/news\/article\/New-York-lawmakers-to-vote-on-abortion-rights-13551825.php\">Sitting<\/a> with Cuomo as he signed the bill was <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/twisting-truth-roe-v-wade-kavanaugh\/\">Sarah Ragle Weddington<\/a>, the lawyer who represented Jane Roe in <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> and the woman whom Roe would later say manipulated her and lied about her in order to convince the Supreme Court to legalize abortion.\u00a0Roe, whose real name was Norma McCorvey, said Weddington lied about McCorvey having been raped. McCorvey said that Weddington simply needed a\u00a0vulnerable pregnant woman to\u00a0help open a court case. McCorvey, who was homeless, fit that bill. Still, Cuomo thanked Weddington for her work in ensuring legalized abortion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/andrew-cuomo-says-pro-lifers-are-not-welcome-in-the-state-of-new-york\/\"><em>Andrew Cuomo says pro-lifers are not welcome in the State of New York<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Third-trimester abortion will be allowed under the new law when a preborn child is diagnosed with a condition that will cause him or her to die at or shortly after birth. In addition, the new law <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20190124220607\/https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/laws\/PBH\/4164\">removes protections<\/a> for babies born alive after an abortion &#8212; meaning they could be left to die after birth &#8212; by rescinding a portion of NY&#8217;s public health law, seen below.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_194955\" style=\"width: 697px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-194955\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-194955\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/born-alive-687x700.jpg\" alt=\"New York\" width=\"687\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/born-alive-687x700.jpg 687w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/born-alive-295x300.jpg 295w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/born-alive-500x509.jpg 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/born-alive.jpg 755w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-194955\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NY public health law nixed by Reproductive Health Act<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The law also allows for abortion through all nine months of pregnancy when the mother&#8217;s life or health is at risk &#8211; which is completely unnecessary, as delivering a live baby via C-section is faster and safer than killing the baby in a two-day late-term abortion. Former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino explains in the video below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ysl1tRnk-ig\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new law also allows non-physicians to commit non-surgical\u00a0abortions and moves the abortion law from the state&#8217;s penal code to its health code &#8211; which removes any threat of the prosecution of abortionists. Senate Republicans, however, said that change could make it impossible for a woman who loses her preborn child because of an assault to have her assailant prosecuted. In addition,\u00a0according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/newyorklawjournal\/2019\/01\/22\/ny-lawmakers-strengthen-abortion-laws-as-backstop-if-scotus-strikes-down-roe\/?slreturn=20190023145459\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.law.com\/newyorklawjournal\/2019\/01\/22\/ny-lawmakers-strengthen-abortion-laws-as-backstop-if-scotus-strikes-down-roe\/?slreturn%3D20190023145459&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1548360474341000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFjzo4aAvy2LyjUaeOLpdrG__KEyg\">New York Law Journal<\/a>, &#8220;Lawmakers also codified into state law on Tuesday regulations promulgated by the state Department of Financial Services that require health insurance companies to provide coverage for contraceptives in New York. In New York City, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/78-of-abortions-in-new-york-city-were-black-and-hispanic-babies\/\">78 percent<\/a> of abortions are on African American babies. More black babies being killed through abortion than being born in the city. The Assembly then voted 92-47 in favor of the bill. It is the first change to New York&#8217;s abortion laws since 1970 and Cuomo pushed the abortion expansion out of fear that <em>Roe v.
