Though Planned Parenthood has selected emergency room physician Dr. Leana Wen to replace its previous political organizer<\/a> president in hopes of improving its damaged image as an abortion corporation, it is still spouting the same false, well-rehearsed claims<\/a>. Wen insists that abortion — the deliberate ending of a human life in the womb — is synonymous with standard medical care.<\/p>\n

Wen’s claim was\u00a0published<\/a>\u00a0in a press release from Planned Parenthood: “As a doctor, I know that services like cancer screenings, well-woman exams, and the full range of reproductive health care \u2014 including birth control and abortion \u2014 are standard medical care.”\u00a0But there are several problems with this, and with Wen’s other claims, both in Planned Parenthood’s press release and a\u00a0recent\u00a0interview<\/a>\u00a0she gave to NPR’s\u00a01A<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here are six false claims made by new Planned Parenthood president Leana Wen — along with the facts:<\/p>\n

False Claim #1:<\/strong> Planned Parenthood was founded by a “humanitarian” nurse who just wanted to help people with their health care.<\/p>\n

Wen told NPR, “We were founded by a nurse who saw what happens when people don’t have access to basic health care….”<\/p>\n

The facts:<\/strong> Margaret Sanger, the founder of\u00a0Planned Parenthood, was deeply entrenched<\/a> in eugenics and brought this same evil ideology — and those who believed in it — into her organization. Sanger’s goal was to make certain that specific groups of people did not procreate<\/em>, not to make sure they had “health care.” Live Action News has repeatedly documented Sanger’s belief in promoting\u00a0forced\u00a0sterilization<\/a>, her aversion to the poor (including\u00a0immigrants<\/a>), her\u00a0Ku Klux Klan interactions<\/a>, and more.<\/p>\n

Wen is either woefully ignorant of this history or is deliberately misleading people about it.<\/p>\n
