Mike Adams — a pro-life and conservative author, columnist, and criminology professor at UNC-Wilmington who successfully sued the university<\/a> for “denying his promotion to full professor in retaliation for his speeches and columns on TownHall.com” — posted on Facebook about the outrageous efforts by the Women’s Studies and Resource Center at UNC-Wilmington to keep women from exercising their free choice to visit off-campus pregnancy resource centers.<\/p>\n

Adams wrote:<\/p>\n

The WRC at UNCW is on an active campaign against crisis pregnancy centers. First they refuse to put Life Line’s contact information next to Planned Parenthood’s on their website. Now they are putting propaganda outside the center that smears these centers that help poor women in a time of need so they may choose life.<\/em><\/p>\n

Their apparent goal is maximizing the number of abortions of innocent unborn humans. They are no longer bothering to conceal it.<\/em><\/p>\n

The “propaganda” brochure to which Adams referred is the one pictured above that reads, “What is a Crisis Pregnancy Center? and where to go instead to get real<\/strong> help.” The brochure is clearly labeled as being from NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina. NARAL Pro-Choice America is a powerful and well-known abortion lobby group that has taken on the destruction of pregnancy resource centers as part of its mission. NARAL has been behind the push to “expose” the allegedly nefarious and deceptive workings of pregnancy centers in America.<\/p>\n

To counter this misinformation, Heartbeat International, which oversees a large number of pregnancy centers in the U.S., has launched PregnancyCenterTruth.com<\/a>. As Katie Franklin of Pregnancy Help News recently wrote<\/a>, the thousands of pregnancy centers in the U.S….<\/p>\n

… served nearly 2 million people with free services in 2017, saving communities at least $161 million. A vast majority of those savings came from the 400,100 ultrasounds performed at the centers.\u00a0In addition to ultrasounds, centers provide material resources (such as diapers and clothing), free pregnancy tests, and\u00a0parenting\u00a0classes and abortion recovery groups.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Falsely claiming that pregnancy centers \u201crely on deception\u201d to provide these services, the abortion lobby has contemptuously labeled them \u201cfake clinics\u201d and targeted them with harmful legislation that abridges their free speech rights and drives women to abortion.<\/em><\/p>\n

Those at UNC-Wilmington’s Women’s Center (as well as NARAL) should know that, according to PregnancyCenterTruth’s statistics on pregnancy centers, more than 7,500 medical professionals<\/a> volunteered their time at pregnancy centers in 2017, providing\u00a0very real services<\/em> to women.<\/p>\n

Abortion corporation Planned Parenthood<\/a> claims to serve around 2.4 million patients yearly at their 650+ facilities<\/a>, and receives half a billion taxpayer dollars annually. The thousands of pregnancy centers offering life-affirming abortion alternatives serve nearly two million people annually as well — but pregnancy centers do it\u00a0for free, <\/i>and\u00a0all while receiving 90 percent<\/em> of their funding<\/a> from donations from their local communities.<\/p>\n

These pregnancy centers do not offer abortions, nor do they refer for them. But that doesn’t mean the help women and families receive there isn’t “real help,” as the NARAL brochure claims. As Adams suggested, groups like the UNCW Women’s Center which attempt to dissuade women from going to life-affirming centers aren’t encouraging women to have choices.
