But in 2018, the operators informed the Kirby Health Center Board &#8212; the leaseholder on the space &#8212; that they wanted to do something different. They wanted to explore adding abortion at the Wilkes-Barre facility. <a href=\"https:\/\/m.citizensvoice.com\/news\/planned-parenthood-booted-from-wilkes-barre-location-after-proposing-to-do-abortions-1.2408263\">Citizens Voice reported<\/a> that Planned Parenthood told the health center board of their plan, but the board &#8220;never responded to their presentation. Instead, the staff at Planned Parenthood received a letter stating its lease would not be renewed&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There are no surgical abortion facilities in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wilkes-Barre,_Pennsylvania\">the town of 40,569<\/a>, and previous attempts to open them have been shut down collectively by the citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the preferences of the women and families in Wilkes-Barre, Planned Parenthood was planning to plow forward with an eye to abortion. Betty Caffrey, president of\u00a0Pennsylvanians for Human Life Wyoming Valley Chapter, <a href=\"https:\/\/m.citizensvoice.com\/news\/planned-parenthood-booted-from-wilkes-barre-location-after-proposing-to-do-abortions-1.2408263\">said she believed Planned Parenthood was considering pushing abortions<\/a> &#8212; at least $400 each, Caffrey said &#8212; because the facility was otherwise &#8220;going to be losing funds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Abortion is Planned Parenthood\u2019s focus and chief money-maker.<\/p>\n<p>Watch as pregnant women who want to keep their babies are turned away by Planned Parenthood staffers, who reveal that the abortion corporation has no services to offer them. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DefundPP?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DefundPP<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eDklzVgAhV\">pic.twitter.com\/eDklzVgAhV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Live Action (@LiveAction) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LiveAction\/status\/998627488308781056?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 21, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvanians for Human Life offers services to women in Wilkes-Barre, but, unlike Planned Parenthood, its services for women who give life to their children are free. We are dedicated to providing FREE and confidential services to members of our community who need them. We offer a 24 hour hotline, education on the facts of pregnancy, abortion, and alternatives to abortion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the list of services offered for women who continue their pregnancies is vastly different. Planned Parenthood offers pregnancy tests, options &#8220;discussion,&#8221; and a couple &#8220;lists.&#8221; Note, too, that the Wilkes-Barre facility is already handing out the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/studies-show-all-forms-of-emergency-contraception-cause-abortion\/\">morning after pill<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/women-emergency-contraception-abortions-right\/\">which can act as an abortifacient<\/a>. Caffrey explains:\u00a0\u201cYou can come to us for help. You don\u2019t have to kill your baby.
