Their lives are endangered because of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion<\/a>. So people with the condition are speaking out, demanding better treatment and an end to the eugenics that has left their numbers dwindling.<\/p>\n<p>The CDSS notes on its campaign website that &#8220;[b]y the International Union for the Conservation of Nature\u2019s own criteria, the Down syndrome community qualifies as endangered in many parts of the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fcdndownsyndrome%2Fvideos%2F695832324120549%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/documentary-doctors-abortions-down-syndrome\/\">READ: <em>Powerful documentary shows doctors&#8217; push to abort babies with Down syndrome<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CDSS has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.endangeredsyndrome.com\/files\/IUCN%20CDSS%20Letter%20FINAL%20Nov%205.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">applied<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;for the inclusion of people with Down syndrome as an endangered sub-species or sub-population of Homo Sapiens to the IUCN\u2019s Red List of Threatened Species.&#8221; In their application, CDSS\u00a0notes some disturbing statistics. Thanks to high abortion rates, which in some countries are in excess of 90%, Down syndrome births are 50% lower than projected, with births actually <em>falling<\/em> in countries like Denmark. Over 65% of people with the condition are out of the workplace, and a sizeable minority live in poverty. Many do not have access to an adequate education, or proper housing. And disturbingly, animal welfare organizations receive 90% more funding and resources than Down syndrome organizations do in North America.<\/p>\n<p>In Iceland, the abortion rate for preborn babies with the condition is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/iceland-isnt-eradicating-down-syndrome-it-is-killing-every-person-who-has-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">effectively 100 percent<\/a>. &#8220;60 Minutes Australia&#8221; gave a glowing review to a test they boasted could <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/mother-down-syndrome-imagine-community-wanting-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;effectively end&#8221; Down syndrome in Australia<\/a>, while in the Netherlands, parents are told they have a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/outrageous-women-told-moral-duty-abort-children-down-syndrome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;moral duty&#8221;<\/a> to abort children with the condition. In the United Kingdom, politicians have repeatedly called for people with it to be <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/ukip-candidate-geoffrey-clark-calls-for-compulsory-abortion-of-babies-with-down-syndrome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forcibly aborted<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/british-counciller-collin-brewer-resigns-after-saying-disabled-children-should-be-put-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;put down&#8221; after birth<\/a>. In the United States, 1 in 4 women report <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downsyndromeprenataltesting.com\/physicians-too-many-doing-down-syndrome-prenatal-testing-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">being pressured to have an abortion<\/a> after a prenatal diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>People with Down syndrome are, in fact, in danger of extinction &#8212; and why? Simply because they are different, because they have a disability.
