When he appeared on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danpatrick.com\/2018\/09\/17\/philip-rivers-eight-not-enough-wants-kids\/\">Dan Patrick Show<\/a> earlier this month, people seemed most interested in discussing Rivers\u2019 family instead of his football. The interview included discussion of the current season and Rivers\u2019 career, but the part of the interview that caught everyone\u2019s attention was when Patrick asked about Rivers\u2019 children.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick stated with a chuckle, &#8220;We were trying to bet on how many kids you have now. I went with eight.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rivers responded happily, \u201cYou\u2019re on it,\u201d and proudly added, \u201cYou nailed it! Six girls and two boys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After establishing the number of Rivers children, Patrick asked with a serious tone, \u201cAre you done?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rivers didn\u2019t hesitate before enthusiastically saying, \u201cNo! Heck no, I hope not!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looking surprised and a little uncomfortable, Patrick asked, \u201cDoes your wife know that you want to have more?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Again, without hesitating, Rivers confidently responded, &#8220;Oh yeah, she\u2019s all in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oum3JRf6KGE\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Rivers\u2019 enthusiasm for his large family has been described as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfdigest.com\/story\/philip-rivers-who-has-eight-children-tells-dan-patrick-hes-not-done-having-children\">absolute insanity<\/a>,\u201d and the Dan Patrick show posted a clip of the interview under the headline: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.danpatrick.com\/2018\/09\/17\/philip-rivers-eight-not-enough-wants-kids\/\">Philip Rivers: Eight is not enough\u2026. wants more kids<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While many people cannot fathom Rivers and his wife Tiffany being open to the possibility of more children after welcoming eight, the couple has consistently shown commitment to their faith and their family. They met in junior high school, married when Philip was 19 and Tiffany was 18, and welcomed their oldest daughter, who is now 16, the following year. Rivers has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/36189\/devout-christian-nfl-qb-philip-rivers-shocks-amanda-prestigiacomo\">spoken<\/a> elsewhere about the importance of the family\u2019s faith. Rivers is Catholic, and his wife converted to Catholicism when they married.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/nfl-benjamin-watson-pregnancy-center\/\">READ: <em>NFL star Benjamin Watson makes amazing donation to pregnancy center<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rivers has also made sacrifices to keep life as ordinary as he can for his kids, despite being an NFL star. This year, Rivers unveiled his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/sports\/columnists\/kevin-acee\/sd-sp-acee-philip-rivers-commute-suv-chargers-0905-story.html\">inventive solution<\/a> to the challenge of keeping his family in San Diego where they have established roots after the Chargers\u2019 move to a new facility. Rivers uses a converted SUV and hired driver to ensure that he can get work done on his extremely long commute without sacrificing time with his family.<\/p>\n<p>Leading up to the birth of his eighth child, Rivers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/sports\/chargers\/sdut-philip-rivers-clare-rivers-childi-eight-chargers-2015oct29-story.html\">told<\/a> game announcers he has managed to make it to all of his children\u2019s births despite his demanding travel schedule in season.<\/p>\n<p>In the same interview that caused all the online comments, when discussing his idiosyncratic throwing form as quarterback for the Chargers, Rivers told Patrick fondly, \u201cMy oldest son now is 10 and he throws it <em>exactly <\/em>the same way.\u201d It\u2019s clear that Patrick\u2019s enthusiasm for his eight children is sincere and his commitment to his family is a great example.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Philip Rivers, quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers, is well known for his faith and love of family.
