Chelsea Clinton doubled down on her support for abortion after making controversial statements last month claiming that abortion added $3.5 trillion to the United States economy. During a SiriusXM Progress Town Hall, Clinton claimed<\/a> it would be “un-Christian” to go back to a pre –\u00a0Roe v. Wade<\/em> era.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I think about all of the statistics, that are painful, of what women are confronting today in our country, and what even more women confronted pre-\u00a0Roe<\/i>, and how many women died, and how many more women were maimed because of unsafe abortion practices, we just can\u2019t go back to that,” Clinton said.<\/p>\n

“That\u2019s unconscionable to me. And also, I\u2019m sure that this will unleash another wave of hate in my direction, but as a deeply religious person, it\u2019s also un-Christian to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clinton’s statements continue to perpetuate the myth that millions of women died from illegal abortions prior to Roe v. Wade<\/em> \u2014 a false narrative that Sen. Dianne Feinstein also recently touted, which was immediately\u00a0debunked by USA Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Feinstein claimed that between “200,000 to 1.2 million women” died from illegal abortions in the 1950s and 60s before the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.<\/p>\n
