And it&#8217;s that lie that West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin seems to be putting forth in his recent comments.\u00a0Manchin came under fire recently when he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_lists\/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=115&amp;session=2&amp;vote=00191#position\">voted <em>against<\/em> an amendment<\/a> to defund the nation&#8217;s largest abortion chain. His reason? Federal money doesn&#8217;t fund abortions. (Except when it does.)<\/p>\n<p>As Live Action shows in this video, any money given to Planned Parenthood helps the abortion chain keep operating. And Manchin&#8217;s claim that funding Planned Parenthood doesn&#8217;t fund abortion only shows an ignorance of the abortion chain as well as economics. Money is <em>fungible<\/em>. Watch:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BgB5E91lD6s\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/2018\/08\/29\/wv-sen-joe-manchin-claims-not-one-penny-of-tax-money-goes-to-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood?utm_content=buffer39bc0&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=facebook.com&amp;utm_campaign=theblaze\">The Blaze reports<\/a> on Manchin&#8217;s comments in the midst of a tough political season:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The incumbent Democrat who\u2019s facing a tough re-election bid against Republican Patrick Morrisey told MetroNews\u2019 \u201cTalkline with Hoppy Kercheval\u201d that he couldn\u2019t vote to take away funding from a clinic in West Virginia that \u201cprovides health care, preventative health care for women and mostly young females.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Manchin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/2018\/08\/29\/wv-sen-joe-manchin-claims-not-one-penny-of-tax-money-goes-to-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood?utm_content=buffer39bc0&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=facebook.com&amp;utm_campaign=theblaze\">claims<\/a> to be pro-life:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>I am pro-life, and I think everyone knows. Look at my record. I voted with Lindsey Graham on the 21-week ban on abortions, I voted for everything, and so I could not take funding away when I knew the funding was not used for abortions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Manchin voted against Senator Rand Paul&#8217;s amendment that would have removed a large source of funding for the nation&#8217;s largest abortion profiteer. Paul\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/laurettabrown\/2018\/08\/23\/sen-rand-paul-blasts-gop-for-killing-his-amendment-to-defund-planned-parenthood-n2512502\">said in a speech before the failed vote<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Planned Parenthood ends the lives of 320,000 babies each year, that\u2019s about 900 babies every day. Planned Parenthood received over 400 million dollars of taxpayer money, <strong>the government with a wink and a nod tells us that Planned Parenthood doesn\u2019t spend the money on abortions but everybody knows that the taxpayers are really cross-subsidizing Planned Parenthood\u2019s abortion mills.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Of course they are. But Manchin continues to claim otherwise,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/2018\/08\/29\/wv-sen-joe-manchin-claims-not-one-penny-of-tax-money-goes-to-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood?utm_content=buffer39bc0&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=facebook.com&amp;utm_campaign=theblaze\">stating on Talkline with Hoppy Kercheval<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>As long as I vote 100 percent for the West Virginia people, and all people, I feel good about that. And I\u2019ve done my homework on this, Hoppy, and I cannot find one penny being used for abortions, and nor would I vote for one penny being used, public funds for abortions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/once-pro-life-democrat-senator-joe-manchin-now-says-he-stands-with-planned-parenthood\/\">READ: <em>Once pro-life, Democrat Senator Joe Manchin now says he &#8216;stands with Planned Parenthood&#8217;<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Manchin needs to do some more homework.\u00a0Not only do some states allow Medicaid money to fund abortions, as <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/heres-how-your-taxpayer-dollars-are-funding-abortion\/\">Live Action has reported<\/a>, but federally, abortifacient birth control is funded with taxpayer money. Likewise, that taxpayer money might pay for a pregnancy test, well-woman exam, or birth control visit, but when a woman using these services finds out she is pregnant, not only will Planned Parenthood offer to do the abortion, its government reimbursements can cover every single part of her abortion visit other than the actual abortion itself. Each of those things can be paid by taxpayers. The only thing that <em>doesn&#8217;t<\/em> get coded for reimbursement is the abortion &#8212; but in the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adfmedia.org\/files\/stearnsreport042013.pdf\"> world of medical coding<\/a>, it is <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/plannedparenthood-profit-no-matter-what.pdf\">pretty easy to shift services around enough to recoup the big bucks<\/a>, even while technically staying within federal law. But even when not committing fraud (which it has been caught doing multiple times), Planned Parenthood can &#8220;technically&#8221; follow the law, while still profiting from taxpayer-funded abortion. That&#8217;s the economic principle of fungibility, something a United States senator should surely know.<\/p>\n<p>When the government gives half a billion dollars annually to Planned Parenthood, it keeps the abortion business rolling.
