Live Action News has previously written about Florida abortionists with sordid histories<\/a>, as well as one in Arizona who sexually assaulted patients<\/a>. Unfortunately, these abortionists weren’t alone in their deeds. Below are four more abortionists with similar predatory records.<\/p>\n

John Steenbergen<\/strong> – Indianapolis, Indiana, 2016<\/p>\n

In 2016, Steenbergen, an Indianapolis doctor, was disciplined<\/a> after he committed an abortion on a patient he impregnated after an inappropriate doctor\/patient sexual relationship.<\/p>\n

Steenbergen<\/a>‘s license was suspended after he admitted to having a sexual relationship with the patient and admitted to committing the abortion by administering Misoprostol (the abortion pill) to the woman. He then paid the patient what appeared to be hush money to keep the her quiet.<\/p>\n

A report published by the Indianapolis Business Journal<\/a>\u00a0said:<\/p>\n

A complaint was filed<\/a> in September 2015 alleging that [Steenbergen] prescribed controlled substances to a female patient between 2010 and 2014 without keeping records, and engaged in a sexual relationship with this patient. When the patient became pregnant, he performed an abortion outside of his normal business hours and has paid the patient over $250,000 since July 2010…<\/em><\/p>\n

Steenbergen\u2019s relationship with his patient came to the attention of the Indiana Attorney General\u2019s office, which asked the state medical licensing board in September 2015 to impose disciplinary action. The attorney general\u2019s complaint said Steenbergen was unfit to practice, due to his inappropriate relationship with the patient and his failure to keep proper medical records regarding treatment.<\/em><\/p>\n

Steenbergen\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0he 1) was not the father of the child and 2) did not begin a sexual relationship with the patient until four months after the abortion; however, for his actions, he was placed on indefinite suspension<\/a>, according<\/a> to the state.<\/p>\n

Dr.\u00a0Naresh G. Patel<\/strong> – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 2015<\/p>\n

In 2015, according to NewsOK.com<\/a>, Oklahoma abortionist Naresh G. Patel, pleaded guilty in a fraud case for selling medication abortions to women who weren’t actually pregnant. Patel reportedly “provided [an] abortion-inducing drug to three female undercover investigators who were posing as patients.”<\/p>\n

The report also states that:<\/p>\n

Patel came under investigation because of evidence he had done an unnecessary abortion procedure in 2011 for $520. The patient died<\/a> four months later of cervical cancer…. Patel has been arrested before \u2014 in 1993 when a patient accused him of sexually assaulting her.<\/em><\/p>\n

That sexual assault was detailed by Life Dynamics president Mark Crutcher in his expose of the abortion industry,\u00a0Lime 5<\/a>:<\/p>\n

On March 25, 1993, \u201cAngela\u201d was having an after-hours abortion performed by [Patel]. She awoke from anesthesia to find him putting his penis into her mouth. He called her several times afterward to find out if she remembered anything about the incident, and she taped the conversation. Police seized her medical records, which were found folded in [Patel\u2019s] desk rather than in her chart. As a result of this incident, [Patel] was charged with attempted forced oral sodomy and sexual battery. He was released on $100,000 bail and left for India in May, claiming that he had to attend the wedding of a niece.<\/em><\/p>\n

Abortionist Patel sexual misconduct<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n

In 2014, NewsOk.com reported<\/a> that Patel denied her accusation and was acquitted at trial in 1994.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The news outlet said the abortionist was, at the time, embroiled in a lawsuit involving\u00a0a former employee who alleged Patel “repeatedly asked her for sexual favors and forced her to do grisly tasks, ‘such as bagging fetuses and body parts,’ because she refused him.”\u00a0The staffer’s attorney claims the woman quit after Patel “tried to rape her at his Oklahoma City home.”<\/div>\n

Under a plea deal in the fraud case, Patel was placed on probation<\/a> for 10 years after serving 18 days \u2014 over weekends \u2014 at a private correctional facility. He was also to surrender his medical license and pay a $20,000 fine, a $100 victims’ compensation assessment, court costs, and $2,035 in restitution. He also agreed never to hold any interest \u2014 directly or indirectly \u2014 in any medical clinic in the future, NewsOK stated.\u00a0In 2015, Patel voluntarily surrendered<\/a> his medical license.<\/p>\n
