The first abortion<\/a> facility to open in Ohio after Roe v. Wade legalized abortion nationwide in 1973, Founders Women’s Health Center, is officially closing its doors, Created Equal has announced in a press release<\/a>. It is seemingly part of a trend; in the last five years, seven abortion facilities have closed in the state. It is not currently known what caused the abortion facility to close. The phone number for the facility goes to a voicemail in which a woman answers as “Your Choice Women’s Healthcare” and asks callers to leave their name and phone number if they are interested in scheduling an appointment. The facility’s website<\/a> lists “no online appointments available.”<\/p>\n

One of the abortionists hired to commit abortions at Founders Women’s Health Center had a checkered past. While employed there, it was discovered that Thomas Michaelis was receiving and distributing child pornography<\/a>. After that, Michaelis had his license to practice medicine permanently revoked. However, even before Michaelis was caught, he was revealed to have been involved with other sexually deviant behaviors.<\/p>\n

In 1991, the Ohio Medical Board cited Michaelis after he had been convicted of Attempted Gross Sexual Imposition, Voyeurism, Public Indecency, all involving minor girls. Michaelis had engaged in sexual \u201ctouching\u201d and other advances on girls in their early teens who had come to his home to play with his daughter. The Board finally revoked his license in 1992. Unwisely, the Board reinstated his license in 1997 after Michaelis complied with a number of requirements imposed by the Board, including an order for him submit to counseling.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to Created Equal, Founders Women’s Health Center had numerous other issues, in addition to employing a known pedophile. The facility owes over one million dollars in taxes to the City of Columbus, State of Ohio, and the IRS, as well as $40,000 to the Ohio Department of Health in unpaid fines. The facility also had its transfer agreement with Grant Hospital revoked, and the most recent abortionist practicing there had no malpractice insurance. At least one woman is known to have been injured from a botched abortion at Founders, after an abortionist perforated her uterus. In addition, thousands upon thousands of preborn babies have been killed in abortions there.<\/p>\n
