The\u00a0horrific criminal cases, civil lawsuits, and health department records alone &#8212; some recently <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-ignored-sexual-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">uncovered<\/a> by Live Action and some\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.childpredators.com\/cases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a>\u00a0previously by other pro-life organizations &#8212; are, in and of themselves, substantial evidence showing Planned Parenthood&#8217;s disregard for victims of child sexual abuse. Add to that Live Action&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-covering-sexual-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">undercover investigations,<\/a>\u00a0along with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-report-sexual-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">testimonies<\/a> from former Planned Parenthood staffers who witnessed Planned Parenthood&#8217;s complicity in failing to report suspicion of abuse, and the proof is overwhelming.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/igQlxvXdn4s\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-journalists-ignore-sexual-abuse\/\">Planned Parenthood-supportive<\/a> media, organizations and individuals who praised the MeToo and TimesUp movements are also silent.\u00a0 An obvious example can be seen in an article <a href=\"https:\/\/rewire.news\/article\/2018\/06\/07\/republicans-coordinate-discredited-anti-choice-group-call-planned-parenthood-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> by pro-abortion Rewire News, which <a href=\"https:\/\/rewire.news\/about-us\/\">claims<\/a> its goal is to &#8220;[&#8230;] foster public knowledge and enlightenment through high-quality evidence-based news, analysis, commentary, and investigative reporting&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_183922\" style=\"width: 477px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-183922\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-183922\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Rewire-fails-sexual-abuse-victims-taken-to-Planned-Parenthood.jpg\" alt=\"Image: Rewire News fails sexual abuse victims taken to Planned Parenthood\" width=\"467\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Rewire-fails-sexual-abuse-victims-taken-to-Planned-Parenthood.jpg 467w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Rewire-fails-sexual-abuse-victims-taken-to-Planned-Parenthood-300x261.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-183922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rewire News fails sexual abuse victims taken to Planned Parenthood (Image credit: Twitter)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>However, while one might expect a level of bias from Rewire News, author\u00a0Katelyn Burns exhibited not a hint of true journalism in her piece, &#8220;Republicans Coordinate With Discredited Anti-Choice Group to Call for Planned Parenthood Investigation.&#8221;\u00a0As I read Burns&#8217; piece, I wrongly anticipated that Burns might mention, with some level of empathy, the victims of sexual abuse, some as young as twelve years old, taken by their abusers to Planned Parenthood and then returned back to the abusers for additional suffering. I assumed Rewire might issue some level of rebuke, token of disdain or outrage regarding theses horrific cases. I assumed Burns might conclude that something is wrong at Planned Parenthood, and side, not with the big corporation, but with actual sexual abuse victims.<\/p>\n<p>I was wrong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E-Z8KlRUn6A\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Instead of examining all the evidence presented by Live Action, Burns was hyper-focused on the two <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-traffickers-guardians\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">undercover investigations<\/a> conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-covering-sexual-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Action<\/a>, which (according to media reports) resulted in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2011\/02\/planned_parenthood_employee_is.html\">firing<\/a> of at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wthr.com\/article\/attorney-general-investigating-planned-parenthood\">two<\/a> Planned Parenthood staffers and one being put on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/birmingham-planned-parenthood-put-on-probation-following-nine-legal-violations\/\">probation<\/a> by their state&#8217;s Department of Health.\u00a0Without citing any evidence, except a lazy link to a Huffington Post article which made a false claim about a completely separate Live Action investigation,\u00a0Burns called the undercover stings &#8220;discredited and extensively edited &#8216;sting&#8217; footage.&#8221; Burns was so unable to see through her bias that she failed to even acknowledge more than two-thirds of Live Action&#8217;s evidence. In so doing, Burns\u00a0completely disregarded sexual abuse victims like Denise Fairbanks, who, as Live Action <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/aidingabusers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">detailed<\/a>, was forced by her rapist to have an abortion. Another reason might be because on the\u00a0Rewire News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rewire.news\/board-of-directors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">board of directors<\/a>\u00a0is none other than Bryan Howard, CEO of Planned Parenthood Arizona. Last month, Farrow\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.recode.net\/2018\/5\/2\/17309460\/ronan-farrow-harvey-weinstein-nbc-new-yorker-media-complicity-silence-decode-kara-swisher-podcast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0Recode Decode, \u201cThe fact that there was a veil of silence around the Harvey Weinstein story for decades is not accidental, and there were a variety of systems that kept it silent&#8230;. The question of the complicity of the media and the role the media played in keeping this quiet for as long as it was quiet, are important ones.&#8221;\u00a0He added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I think one reason why I structured those stories&#8230; around systems rather than individuals, is because the systems still have a long way to go&#8230;. This was a story about the abuse of power and the way in which the most powerful people in this country can manipulate the press, manipulate the judicial and legal process&#8230;. These are systems that are still be used every day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, Planned Parenthood&#8217;s complicity of silence is shamefully doing the exact same thing, but just as in the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-planned-parenthood-and-friends-lend-hand-harvey-weinsteins-of-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Weinstein<\/a> case and other abuse cases, truth cannot be silenced.
