The move has been condemned by pro-life groups as an attempt \u201cto rig the election.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.ie\/irish-news\/abortion-referendum\/google-ad-ban-is-an-attempt-to-rig-vote-claim-no-campaigners-36892220.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">announcement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Google claimed the decision came as part of \u201cour update around election integrity efforts globally.\u201d Pro-abortion groups applauded the decision, but as observers have <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2018\/05\/09\/google-bans-pro-life-ads-ahead-of-ireland-vote-to-legalize-abortion\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">noted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the only ads related to the referendum appear to be <em>pro-life<\/em> ads, so the ban would effectively benefit the pro-<a href=\"http:\/\/abortionprocedures.com\">abortion<\/a> campaign and harm campaign efforts for life in Ireland. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ireland\u2019s Eighth Amendment grants equal protection of the right to life of the preborn child and his or her mother. In the May 25th referendum, voters will decide whether to overturn these pro-life protections in the constitution. If they vote for repeal, legislators will have the power to legalize abortion for any reason up to birth. Pro-life advocates have focused on the excellent maternal care record in Ireland and the fact that abortion is never necessary to save the life of the mother.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ysl1tRnk-ig\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The repeal campaign has benefitted from marked pro-abortion <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/irish-media-bogus-poll-abortion\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bias in the media<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, celebrity endorsements and significant <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/soros-agenda-make-ireland-pro-abortion-still-raising-questions\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">funding from the international abortion lobby<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. As such, the pro-life campaigners are at a disadvantage and have used online advertising on Google and social media platforms to reach voters with their message. The pro-life groups Save the 8<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the Iona Institute issued a joint <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.ie\/irish-news\/abortion-referendum\/google-ad-ban-is-an-attempt-to-rig-vote-claim-no-campaigners-36892220.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">statement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that read in part, &#8220;Online was the only platform available to the No campaign to speak to voters directly. That platform is now being undermined in order to prevent the public from hearing the message of one side.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twitter has also announced that it will suspend ads related to the referendum ahead of the May 25th vote. Twitter has a confirmed history of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/twitter-attack-pro-life-ads-abortion\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">censoring pro-life content<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Facebook has jumped on the bandwagon to join Google&#8217;s and Twitter&#8217;s bans. Colum Kenny, writing for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/opinion\/who-made-facebook-and-google-referendum-debate-gatekeepers-1.3490925\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/opinion\/who-made-facebook-and-google-referendum-debate-gatekeepers-1.3490925&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1526593392745000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEkNQp8nIrcFewF7_oUSmI8iAgK1Q\">Irish Times<\/a>, pointed out that the reason Facebook has given for the move is suspicious. While each of the tech giants claim to be supporting a fair election by preventing outside influence, the pro-life side is the one affected by the bans.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the pro-abortion side is far from immune from outside influence as this side has received significant monetary support from <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/soros-agenda-make-ireland-pro-abortion-still-raising-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/soros-agenda-make-ireland-pro-abortion-still-raising-questions\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1526593392745000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHDlPbejHoug8EEOwCfwNcadyWYyw\">George Soros<\/a> and other globalist\u00a0elites. Kenny <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/opinion\/who-made-facebook-and-google-referendum-debate-gatekeepers-1.3490925\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/opinion\/who-made-facebook-and-google-referendum-debate-gatekeepers-1.3490925&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1526593392746000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFuOfnPKBK54S2j80YHC9Y6L8blKw\">asks<\/a>, &#8220;Were the online companies influenced by a liberal ideology?
