Part of Teleflora&#8217;s &#8220;Love Makes a Mom&#8221; campaign, the video has already garnered more than 1.5 million views on YouTube since its release on April 30th. Teleflora states on its <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.teleflora.com\/love-makes-a-mom\/\">blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230; Eleven weeks into her pregnancy, Cara was told that there was a very good chance that the little girl she wanted so badly would have Down Syndrome. While Cara knew she would love her daughter, she worried that she was not equipped to be the mom her baby needed. Now, seven years later, Mia is the life of the party and the heart of the family.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the blog, Cara, an ER nurse, is very empathetic &#8212; but she believes her daughter is even more so:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>She has said that Mia knows what everyone needs (i.e. a hug or a kiss) even when they don\u2019t know it. In raising Mia, Cara\u2019s own view on motherhood and what the \u201cperfect family\u201d looks like has changed. Mia is the glue that holds her family together. Or as her big brother Jack Jr. would say, \u201cMia is the patty in the Armstrong family hamburger.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Cara says in the video below that she had always wanted &#8216;the perfect family.&#8221; But &#8220;when Mia was born, the doctor came in and said, &#8216;I&#8217;m so sorry.'&#8221; She adds, &#8220;I didn&#8217;t doubt that I would love my baby, but I doubted that I was the right woman for the job.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cara soon discovered that Mia was sent &#8220;to change my heart, and to show me a different kind of perfect.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You might need tissues:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/S6ZEFqCj-OM\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Children with Down syndrome are gifts to their families and to our world. While doctors tragically still often <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/mother-pens-letter-doctor-told-abort-baby-syndrome\/\">recommend abortion<\/a> for children diagnosed prenatally with Down syndrome (and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/genocide-down-syndrome-ireland\/\">around the world<\/a>, the majority of these children are aborted) much of the time, their information on the prognosis of children with Down syndrome is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/outrageous-women-told-moral-duty-abort-children-down-syndrome\/\">outdated<\/a> and incorrect. Cara found out in her first trimester of pregnancy that Mia may have Down syndrome, and unlike the majority of women who receive this news, Cara chose life for her daughter. And today, she has seen the amazingly great rewards.<\/p>\n<p>People like Mia, who have Down syndrome, are proving every day that they are just as talented and as valuable as everyone else. Charlotte Fien <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/woman-down-syndrome-un-extinction\/\">has addressed<\/a> the United Nations on more than one occasion, advocating for people with Down syndrome. Blake Pyron <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/blake-texas-business-down-syndrome\/\">owns his own business<\/a> in Texas. Ryan Pittman has a heart for <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/man-down-syndrome-need-god\/\">missionary work<\/a>. Mikayla Holmgren <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/down-syndrome-miss-minnesota\/\">competed<\/a> in the Miss USA pageant. Valerio Catoia <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/teen-syndrome-rescues-girl-drowning-italy\/\">saved<\/a> a young girl from drowning. Many other people with Down syndrome are going to school every day, participating in extracurricular activities, and working at jobs.
