The pro-life group Human Coalition launched three Twitter ads highlighting the humanity of the preborn and the <\/span>racism of Planned Parenthood<\/span><\/a>. But Twitter <\/span>removed the ads<\/span><\/a> without explanation and has refused to allow Human Coalition to repost them. Human Coalition shared screenshots of the three tweets:<\/span><\/p>\n

Within hours of the ads launching on February 21, Twitter removed the ads and put Human Coalition\u2019s account under review. A message from Twitter that Human Coalition shared with Live Action News states that the group \u201cwill receive an email when the review is complete.\u201d Human Coalition never received an email. On March 5, the group resubmitted the ads, and Twitter did not approve them. Without citing a specific violation of its own \u201c<\/span>eligibility criteria and policy requirements<\/span><\/a>,\u201d Twitter administrators censored factually accurate, pro-life tweets. <\/span><\/p>\n

Human Coalition had a similar experience with pro-abortion bias late last year when Twitter deemed Human Coalition\u2019s President Brian Fisher ineligible to run ads. Fisher promoted tweets calling abortion genocide and advocating for the human rights of the preborn, which allegedly run afoul of Twitter\u2019s \u201cHealth and pharmaceutical products and services\u201d <\/span>policy<\/span><\/a>. The censored tweets stated: <\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Nearly 3,000 children die in U.S. #abortions every single day. Where are their #HumanRights?<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. #Abortion is genocide.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Abortion is a genocide we must end in our lifetime. What are you waiting for?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A review of the policy cited shows no reason why Fisher\u2019s tweets were censored. The policy does, however, prohibit the promotion of \u201cAbortion clinics\u201d and \u201cAbortion advocacy,\u201d although Planned Parenthood apparently has <\/span>free reign<\/span><\/a> to engage in the latter. Human Coalition submitted three different tickets requesting that Twitter review Fisher\u2019s account after it was deemed ineligible. Although Twitter claims to respond to tickets within \u201cone business day or less,\u201d none<\/em> of the three tickets were responded to within one business day. On January 31, almost four weeks<\/em> after the first ticket was submitted, Twitter reviewed and confirmed that Fisher\u2019s account was still ineligible to run ads.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2017 saw several high profile instances of Twitter censoring pro-life speech. For example, Live Action\u2019s ads were blocked. In June, Live Action News\u00a0<\/span>noted<\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n

    While Planned Parenthood is allowed to advertise on Twitter, the social media company has suppressed Live Action\u2019s ads, calling our pro-life messages offensive and inflammatory. What exactly is Twitter calling so offensive and inflammatory? Tweeting a picture of a child developing in the womb and saying we believe in the right to life. Or tweeting ultrasound images, like the ones that most expectant moms hang on their refrigerator doors.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Pro-life Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn also faced discrimination when she ran an ad that included criticism of Planned Parenthood, America\u2019s largest abortion business. After public backlash, Twitter <\/span>reversed the decision<\/span><\/a> and allowed Blackburn\u2019s ads to run. <\/span><\/p>\n

    While removing the ban on Blackburn\u2019s ad was a positive development, ads from Live Action and Human Coalition remain censored. Suppression of pro-life speech is also not limited to Twitter. Last year, Apple <\/span>removed Human Coalition\u2019s app<\/span><\/a> from its app store despite appeals by the group and demonstrations that the app exceeds minimum requirements set by the tech company. Tech giants <\/span>Google and Facebook co-sponsored<\/span><\/a> a protest against a pro-life women\u2019s health care clinic run by Human Coalition.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Lauren Enriquez, public relations manager for Human Coalition, explained the multi-pronged attack and the group\u2019s outlook going forward:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Human Coalition reaches and extends compassion to the most disenfranchised individuals in our midst: the abortion-seeking woman and her preborn child. Recent mounting attacks on our work confirm that the abortion industry has felt the effect of our work and is retaliating.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In spite of repeated attempts by abortion activists and their accomplices in the tech world to silence Human Coalition, we continue to carry out our mission of rescuing children single every day. We will continue to call out bullying and silencing tactics and to stand in solidarity with our pro-life allies who are facing similar discrimination at increasing rates.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Indeed, pro-life groups are banding together and becoming more vocal about the censorship at the hands of social media giants who claim to be impartial. As Live Action\u2019s Lila Rose told the Washington Post last year:<\/span><\/p>\n

    This wasn\u2019t about one issue with one aspect with one ad. This was about the entirety of our message, from ultrasound images of life in the womb to criticism of abortion facilities. The heart of Twitter\u2019s self-named purpose is to \u2018give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers.\u2019 They are completely violating that.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
