Live Action News has long reported on the Planned Parenthood facility in St. Louis, Missouri, which has sent at least 69 patients to the hospital since 2009. More recently, this facility has sent multiple women to the hospital within days of each other.<\/p>\n

On February 24th of this year, an ambulance was called to the facility, according to Operation Rescue<\/a>, without lights or sirens, despite a Missouri state law<\/a> passed last year prohibiting abortion facilities from requesting that ambulances arrive without using lights or sirens. Eleven days later, on March 6, another ambulance arrived<\/a>.\u00a0“The ambulance lights were on coming down Forest Park, turned off when entering [Planned Parenthood],” said an observer. “When the ambulance left, the lights were initially on and the ambulance proceeded down Forest Park with the lights off.”<\/p>\n

Ambulances without lights or sirens may not be able to get to the hospital as quickly, which could put women at further risk. Planned Parenthood opposed such a law<\/a>, making their practices even more anti-women.<\/p>\n

The city of St. Louis is working to further protect Planned Parenthood. The city council is expected to vote this month about an ordinance<\/a> creating a buffer zone around the facility, which would make it even more difficult for pro-life sidewalk counselors to offer life-affirming alternatives to women where they currently stand, on the public sidewalk outside a fence surrounding the parking lot. Planned Parenthood has spun<\/a> this ordinance to be a “Health Center Safety Bill,<\/a>” with bullet points explaining the ordinance<\/a>. Perhaps the most dubious claim is that the organization is committed to health and safety:<\/p>\n

The health and safety of patients are Planned Parenthood\u2019s top priority and are central to its mission.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every day, Planned Parenthood works to make sure patients receive the high-quality health care they need in a supportive environment. That includes ensuring patients can get in and out of Planned Parenthood health center facilities safely.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Planned Parenthood also claims that the ordinance provisions are “common sense” and will offer increased safety for… “those protesting against health care,” claiming it “is a reasonable, narrowly tailored way to protect patients, providers, and staff.” But in truth, Planned Parenthood isn’t one to support “common sense” or “reasonable” legislation, as it has opposed not only requiring ambulances to have lights and sirens, but also\u00a0virtually all regulations and restrictions on abortion<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ordinance is dangerous and also may be a waste of time. The U.S. Supreme Court decided unanimously against buffer zones in the 2014 case of McCullen v. Coakley<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Other considered buffer zones have been halted<\/a> after the Court’s decision. Yet Planned Parenthood claims it “supports First Amendment Rights<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

March 8 was International Women’s Day, and Planned Parenthood celebrated this day mere days after sending a woman to the hospital. They even\u00a0hijacked the day<\/a> on Twitter<\/a>\u00a0to advocate for this ordinance and to advocate for the #metoo movement, despite how Planned Parenthood enables sexual predators<\/a>.<\/p>\n
