The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/video\/meet-the-adorable-winner-of-the-gerber-baby-photo-contest-1155635267627\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announcement<\/a> came this morning on the TODAY Show and, according to the NBC show, &#8220;The 1-year-old from Dalton, Georgia, is the first child with\u00a0<a class=\" vilynx_listened\" href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/parents\/2-year-old-boy-down-syndrome-recites-alphabet-viral-video-t69531\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Down syndrome<\/a>\u00a0to be named a\u00a0<a class=\" vilynx_listened\" href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/parents\/happy-birthday-gerber-baby-you-re-90-years-young-today-t105240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gerber baby<\/a>\u00a0since the contest&#8217;s start more than ninety years ago.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/lucas-gerber-down-syndrome\/lucas-warren-2018-gerber-spokesbaby\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-178818\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-178818\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Lucas-Warren-2018-Gerber-Spokesbaby-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"Image of Gerber baby who has Down Syndrome\" width=\"700\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lucas Warren, Gerber Spokesbaby<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The iconic charcoal-sketched logo on Gerber\u2019s packaging was originally a sketch of Ann Turner Cook at four months old. She became a Gerber baby in 1928, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HZbMQuYEzrI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Inside Edition<\/a>, and in 2016, Cook turned 90 years old. According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.gerber.com\/news\/gerberR-names-winner-of-gerber-baby-photo-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">baby food company<\/a>, for the past several years, Gerber has held the annual photo contest where a panel of judges review entries to find, &#8220;children from birth to preschool age whose photos displayed expressiveness and consistency with Gerber\u2019s heritage. Since the inception of Photo Search seven years ago, Gerber has awarded eight (twins in 2013) tiny tots the Photo Search crown.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_178817\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/lucas-gerber-down-syndrome\/original-gerber-baby-ann-turner-cook\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-178817\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-178817\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-178817\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Original-Gerber-Baby-Ann-Turner-Cook-e1518020761993.jpg\" alt=\"Image: Original Gerber Baby Ann Turner Cook\" width=\"650\" height=\"397\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-178817\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Original Gerber, Baby Ann Turner Cook<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This year&#8217;s winning photo was submitted by the infant&#8217;s mother, Cortney Warren, who, according to the TODAY Show, &#8220;entered the Gerber contest on a whim, after a relative pointed out an ad seeking submissions. After posting a photo of Lucas on Instagram using the contest&#8217;s hashtag, Cortney and her husband, Jason, received the news that their son had been chosen from more than 140,000 entries to be the 2018 Gerber Spokesbaby.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s always been such a good baby.
