Jamie Jeffries is a writer, public speaker, wife, mom and pro-life activist. On her blog, Pro-Life Wife,<\/a> Jamie shares her tragic story of being raped at 16 years old. She called her local Planned Parenthood<\/a> for help at the time, but to her dismay, received none. I spoke with Jamie to learn more about her story.<\/p>\n

Live Action News<\/strong>: What emotions did you feel after the initial shock of the rape?<\/p>\n

\nJamie<\/strong>: I felt confusion and fear. I didn’t realize what just happened. It didn’t seem real. That mixed with intense guilt and shame. I also felt dirty just like trashy and gross. I’m not sure if that’s because I wasn’t sexually active yet or what.<\/p>\n

Live Action News<\/strong>: You turned to Planned Parenthood for assistance after the rape, wanting to get a rape kit and test for STD\/STI or internal damage. What made you go to Planned Parenthood?<\/p>\n

Jamie<\/strong>: All of my friends went to Planned Parenthood for their sex related appointments; birth control, STD tests, sex education, etc.\u00a0 A friend suggested I call them and gave me their number. She said they’d help me without telling my parents. I just didn’t want my family to know I had sex, whether on purpose or not.<\/p>\n

Jamie discussed more details about her conversation with Planned Parenthood in her blog\u00a0post<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The receptionist answered politely and I began to tell her that I had recently been raped and feared I may have some problems from my attack. She asked if\u00a0 “by problems I meant a baby.”<\/p>\n

I told her I wasn\u2019t pregnant and didn\u2019t think I was going to be pregnant just based off of what happened during my attack. I told her I was in some physical pain and wanted to get checked out by a doctor and get an STD test but I just couldn\u2019t tell my family. She told me flat out if I wasn\u2019t pregnant and seeking to abort my \u201crape baby\u201d they really couldn\u2019t assist me.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I remember her exact words in a much less sweeter tone than her first words: \u201cIf you wind up being pregnant in a few weeks come in and we\u2019ll help you take care of it. The doctor can check you out then. If he damaged you it will still show in a few weeks.\u201d\u00a0I questioned her, asking why I had to be pregnant to get a post-rape exam and I was told there are too many legalities I wouldn\u2019t understand and it wasn\u2019t in their best interest to take me on as a client.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jamie isn’t the only one to have been turned away by Planned Parenthood in a time of need. A Live Action investigation<\/a> revealed the way Planned Parenthood refused to help pregnant women seeking prenatal care:<\/p>\n
