One\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/babies-born-22-weeks-can-survive-medical-care-new-study-finds-329518\">study<\/a>\u00a0showed that a significant number of babies survive when delivered as early as 22 weeks, just over five months of gestation.<\/p>\n<p>Priests for Life and Abortion-Free New Mexico called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/new-abortion-facility-will-offer-to-kill-unborn-babies-at-any-stage-in-preg\">AbortionClinics.org<\/a>, the corporation under which Carhart is operating his Bethesda, Maryland facility. Carhart\u2019s employee told the undercover caller that based on her height, weight, and medical history it would be $7,000 to abort her healthy baby at 26 weeks into pregnancy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-video\" data-location=\"4\" data-yturl=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iEKI01AAwtY&amp;feature=youtu.be\">\n<div class=\"article-video-embed\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iEKI01AAwtY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically we can see you up until 28 weeks if there\u2019s no medical reason,\u201d the abortion worker said. \u201cAfter 28 weeks it\u2019s a case-by-case basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If the mother waited until she was 27 weeks pregnant, the abortion would take four days rather than three.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe doctor would do an induction through your abdominal wall [into] the uterus and into the fetus\u2019s heart, which would actually stop the heartbeat the first day,\u201d the unidentified abortion worker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe insert what\u2019s called laminaria \u2013 it\u2019s [an] FDA-approved seaweed stick, kind of, just like a small wooden stick,\u201d she explained. \u201cIt\u2019s in your cervix overnight and absorbs body fluid and expands kind of like a tampon will to be able to [sic] open your cervix up. And then on the last day, which would be the third day, basically you would essentially be induced for labor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This labor would result in a \u201cstillbirth,\u201d she admitted.<\/p>\n<p>The abortion worker assured the prospective client that pain would be minimal thanks to her cervix being numbed and the possibility of IV sedation, a type of \u201ctwilight drug\u201d where she\u2019d be awake \u00a0\u201cbut you just don\u2019t really remember any of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She then understated, according to science, how \u201cdeveloped\u201d the baby would be and the amount of pain he or she would feel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResearch has shown that the digoxin injection into the heart \u2013 I mean, there wouldn\u2019t be any pain \u2013 it would actually slowly stop the heartbeat and then, of course, there\u2019s no pain after that,\u201d the abortion worker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, it\u2019s gonna be developed but not a viable pregnancy if it was outside of your body at that point in your pregnancy,\u201d she said, because 26 weeks pregnant is \u201ctechnically 24 weeks from conception.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Babies as young as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-1380282\/Earliest-surviving-premature-baby-goes-home-parents.html\">21 weeks have survived<\/a>\u00a0after birth as neonatal healthcare improves. At 20 weeks, babies can feel and respond to pain.<\/p>\n<p>The abortion worker said Carhart\u2019s facility wouldn\u2019t be able to meet with the mother to talk about her options.<\/p>\n<p>An \u201coptions counseling session\u201d is \u201cnot something that we provide,\u201d she said. However, \u201cif you wanna talk about the actual procedure itself we do do that but there\u2019s a charge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although Carhart is willing to commit abortions on women 28 weeks into a healthy pregnancy, \u00a0he isn\u2019t \u201cinclined to offer in-office consultations for his patients who have questions before the [three-to-four-] day abortion procedure,\u201d said Tara Shaver of Abortion-Free New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe abortion industry is not concerned with giving women information and choices; these profiteers are merely killers for hire who don&#8217;t want to answer any questions,\u201d said Shaver. \u201cThey just want to get paid.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When Carhart initially moved his abortion shop to Bethesda earlier this year, he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/new-abortion-facility-will-offer-to-kill-unborn-babies-at-any-stage-in-preg\">wasn\u2019t licensed to commit abortions there<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"article-image full-width\" data-location=\"19\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifesite-cache.s3.amazonaws.com\/images\/made\/images\/remote\/https_s3.amazonaws.com\/lifesite\/carhart_again_645_430_55.JPG\" alt=\"Image\" \/><figcaption><\/figcaption><figcaption>Abortion supporters outside LeRoy Carhart&#8217;s Bethesda facility, which is located next to a bank and upscale stores (<span class=\"credit\">Claire Chretien \/ LifeSiteNews)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Carhart was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/abortionist-cancels-illegal-late-term-abortions-after-pro-lifers-expose-him\">forced to move to the Bethesda location<\/a>\u00a0after pro-lifers bought the building in which his old Germantown facility operated. The purchase of Carhart\u2019s Germantown building was a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/breaking-news-late-term-abortion-clinic-to-close-in-maryland\">major victory<\/a>\u00a0for local pro-life activists, but then was dampened when Carhart was able to move somewhere else.<\/p>\n<p>Carhart is now licensed to commit abortions in Bethesda, but Lauren Handy of Mercy Missions told LifeSiteNews he obtained that license through \u201ccollusion and corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Handy explained that the initial required health inspection of Carhart\u2019s new facility hasn\u2019t been released, even though that\u2019s standard procedure for the health department. If facilities don\u2019t pass the initial inspection, they\u2019re required to correct the issues before getting their license, said Handy.<\/p>\n<p>Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said that this call shows why the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would prohibit most abortions after 20 weeks, should become law.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-video\" data-location=\"23\" data-yturl=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=f0QwD1Z1GVw\">\n<div class=\"article-video-embed\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f0QwD1Z1GVw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The previous call in this investigative\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.priestsforlife.org\/latetermabortion\/listen.aspx\">series<\/a>\u00a0revealed a Colorado late-term abortion facility\u2019s willingness to abort a healthy 30-week-old baby.
