Previous party statements <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dnc-chair-every-democrat-must-support-abortion\/\">had signaled<\/a> a doubling down on a pro-abortion platform.<\/p>\n<p>Lila Rose, the president and founder of Live Action, reminded the Democratic Party in a tweet just how unpopular its view on abortion is with the American people:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheDemocrats\">@TheDemocrats<\/a> should take note from the last election: Aligning with Big Abortion is unpopular and extreme. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aVJXppmrbO\">https:\/\/t.co\/aVJXppmrbO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lila Rose (@LilaGraceRose) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/897608721815052288\">August 15, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>But the party&#8217;s announcement did not sit well with many abortion advocates, including Cecile Richards, CEO and president of Planned Parenthood, the nation\u2019s largest and most profitable abortion chain. Richards expressed her distaste <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/laurettabrown\/2017\/08\/03\/cecile-richards-confusing-stance-on-prolife-democrats-n2363984\">in several tweets<\/a>, and more recently, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/magazine\/story\/2017\/08\/15\/democrats-abortion-trump-215490\">an interview<\/a> with Politico.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-spending-20m-elect-pro-abortion-allies-help-media\/\">spent an unprecedented amount of money<\/a>\u00a0on the 2016 election, even\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-launches-campaign-to-register-voters\/\">registering voters<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/americans-have-overwhelmingly-rejected-planned-parenthood-and-a-pro-abortion-president\/\">still lost<\/a> when it came to the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House Representatives, and the White House. The Democratic Party platform that year <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/2016-democratic-party-platform-endorses-taxpayer-funding-of-abortion\/\">signaled support<\/a> for not only abortion and Planned Parenthood, but for taxpayer funded abortions. The Democratic Party <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/democratic-partys-2016-draft-platform-goes-further-on-abortion\/\">bragged about the platform in a press release<\/a>, further discounting <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-life-democrats-are-fighting-their-partys-efforts-to-repeal-the-hyde-amendment\/\">pro-life Democrats<\/a> who voiced their disappointment.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen Day, the executive director of Democrats for Life, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/leaving-pro-lifers-behind-look-hillary-clintons-loss\/\">told Live Action News<\/a> that she believes Hillary Clinton\u2019s pro-abortion stance contributed to her election loss. Day has been lobbying the Democratic Party to be more accepting of pro-lifers within the party, and had also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dnc-chair-tom-perez-to-meet-with-democrats-for-life-while-abortion-activists-cry-wolf\/\">met with<\/a> party chairman, Tom Perez.<\/p>\n<p>Abortion also played a role in recent special elections, specifically with the defeat of John Ossoff, the Democratic candidate for a Georgia House seat. Despite his support from Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/karen-handel-wins-georgia\/\">both financially and in advertisements<\/a>, he was defeated by pro-life Republican candidate, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/karen-handel-wins-georgia\/\">Karen Handel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Polling released before the 2016 election showed that abortion could be a losing issue for pro-abortion candidates and parties. Not long after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Texas&#8217;s abortion safety regulations (part of the HB 2 legislation), <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/most-americans-disagree-with-supreme-court-abortion-safety-laws\/\">a Knights of Columbus\/Marist poll<\/a> revealed that Americans had strongly supported these regulations, including those with varying demographics and abortion views. These\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kofc.org\/un\/en\/news\/polls.html#\/\">annual polls<\/a>\u00a0also demonstrate similar support for pro-life laws regulating and restricting abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Other annual polling on abortion from Gallup shows that the American public does not support the abortion position of the Democratic Party. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/gallup-poll-more-americans-believe-abortion-is-morally-wrong\/\">Gallup&#8217;s 2017 poll<\/a>, a plurality of Americans, 49 percent, believe abortion is \u201cmorally wrong.\u201d A majority, at 54 percent, are in favor of making abortion \u201clegal only under certain circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-170838\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/gallup-2017.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"385\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/gallup-2017.jpg 576w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/gallup-2017-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/gallup-2017-500x334.jpg 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/gallup-2017-360x240.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These polls stand in stark contrast to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-hypes-four-reasons-congress-shouldnt-defund-planned-parenthood-heres-theyre-wrong\/\">those cited by Planned Parenthood<\/a>\u00a0in its attempts to claim that Americans support continuing its taxpayer funding as well as abortion. As <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dont-believe-the-lies-quinnipacs-poll-on-planned-parenthood-is-misleading\/\">Live Action News<\/a> has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-promoter-misleads-support-hyde-amendment\/\">explained<\/a>, those <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-desperate-to-hold-onto-taxpayer-funding-heres-why-they-dont-deserve-it\/\">cited polls<\/a> have quite often mislead poll respondents. While Planned Parenthood has found plenty of <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dear-planned-parenthood-not-resistance\/\">creative ways<\/a> to claim public support, the abortion giant&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/extreme-planned-parenthood-opposes-virtually-all-abortion-restrictions\/\">opposition to virtually all abortion regulations and restrictions<\/a>, puts them, and their abortion support, among\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-not-public-making-u-s-more-extreme-on-abortion\/\">the extreme fringes<\/a> of American politics.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood wasn&#8217;t always so rabidly supportive of abortion. Years ago, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/old-planned-parenthood-pamphlet-abortion-is-dangerous-to-the-life-and-health-of-women\/\">even the abortion giant admitted<\/a>, as <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-director-naral-founder-both-admitted-abortion-kills-human-beings\/\">did its founder, and NARAL\u2019s<\/a>,\u00a0that abortion takes human life. Today, more Americans are realizing this truth, are learning what abortion is, and are rethinking their support for it.<\/p>\n<p>When the public learns the facts, abortion becomes less desirable and less acceptable as a solution to anything.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/watch-abortion-supporters-change-their-mind-about-abortion-in-minutes\/\">Live Action<\/a>\u00a0showed this with man-on-the-street interviews, presenting the facts about what abortion really does. Shockingly, some people who were pro-abortion just moments before changed their minds immediately. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/\">videos<\/a>\u00a0these people saw featured former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino explaining what goes into various abortion procedures, including what happens to the preborn child:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0xWQHhqOAcg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Even arguments from the cream of the crop of academia seem to fail. Princeton professor Liz Harman was recently featured in a video describing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/watch-greatest-minds-princeton-justify-abortion\/\">her argument in favor of abortion<\/a>, which &#8212; judging from host James Franco&#8217;s confused facial expressions &#8212; persuaded no one.<\/p>\n<p>While abortion advocates like Harman (and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/medical-misinformation\/\">Planned Parenthood employees<\/a>) seek to dehumanize preborn children with lies about their humanity and development, science tells a different story. From fertilization, a unique and individual life has come into existence. The fascinatingly early development does not stop there, however. Preborn children are full of exciting developments and experiences, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/12-amazing-facts-prove-preborn-humanity-first-trimester\/\">including in the first trimester<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bHe8YGPGzj4\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Abortion is also a losing issue because many of us personally know people who are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/bgt-congress-2016\">alive today because their mothers chose life<\/a>. Those very real human beings are a testament to the fact that abortion takes life &#8212; it doesn&#8217;t give it.
