The undercover phone call was placed to Southwestern Women\u2019s Options (SWO), an Albuquerque, New Mexico, late-term abortion facility operated by infamous abortionist <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/late-term-abortionist-curtis-boyd-am-i-killing-yes-i-am\/\">Curtis Boyd<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What appears to be is missing from this disturbing conversation are questions that one would expect an abortion facility to ask, such as the caller&#8217;s reasons for seeking an abortion.\u00a0But in listening to the exchange below, there seems to be no interest in finding out what &#8220;health reason&#8221; would compel a pregnant woman to seek an abortion so late in her pregnancy:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ae2tYXkJVM8\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The basic information sought by facilities like Southwestern Women&#8217;s Options is how far along the woman thinks she is and whether or not she can pay. Contrary to what the public is led to believe, it is clear from this video &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/undercover-call-reveals-abortion-facility-willing-kill-30-week-preborn-baby-mothers-stress\/\">and others<\/a> &#8212; that late-term abortions are not being performed for reasons of health alone.\u00a0In <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/taxpayers-fund-abortion-new-mexico\/\">several states<\/a>, including New Mexico, taxpayers are funding late-term abortions done <em>for any reason<\/em> the woman desires.<\/p>\n<p>It should come as no surprise, then, that abortionists with the abortion industry&#8217;s leader,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/abortioncorporation\">Planned Parenthood<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/unearthed-court-docs-planned-parenthood-considers-all-abortions-medically-necessary\/\">believe<\/a> <em>all abortions<\/em> are &#8220;medically necessary&#8221; and should be funded by taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>In the video above, one of the first things the facility tells the caller is that if she is able to get to their location quickly (before another week goes by and prices increase further), an abortion at 25 weeks will cost her $8,500. If the abortion industry really wanted to help poor women to have &#8220;abortion access,&#8221; and &#8220;free abortions,&#8221; then why are they charging so much? Because abortions, whether paid for by taxpayers or by private individuals, have never been &#8220;free.&#8221;\u00a0Despite what the abortion industry might claim, these procedures are (as you can see) quite lucrative.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, a woman who sought a late-term abortion from Colorado abortionist Warren Hern\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/saynsumthn.wordpress.com\/2015\/04\/30\/mother-paid-abortion-doc-25k-to-euthanize-36-week-unborn-baby\/\">claims<\/a> she paid $25,000 to end the life of her baby at 36 weeks. More on that case later.<\/p>\n<p>In detailing the late-term abortion process, the facility staffer tells the caller that the late-term, 25 week abortion is a &#8220;three to four day process&#8221; of &#8220;labor and delivery&#8221; which will produce a &#8220;stillborn&#8221; baby.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day, the doctor, referred to as &#8220;she,&#8221; will &#8220;use a medication.&#8221;\u00a0To do what to the baby, exactly? To\u00a0&#8220;<strong>euthanize the fetus<\/strong>&#8221; and &#8220;stop the fetal heart on that first day,&#8221; according to the staffer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-88733\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88733\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN-1-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One would expect to hear a term like &#8220;euthanize&#8221; when taking an animal into a veterinarian&#8217;s office. But this callous terminology\u00a0is fairly common among abortion providers. In the previously mentioned case of a woman seeking an abortion at 36 weeks, costing $25,000, abortionist Warren Hern&#8217;s Colorado facility <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/what-kind-of-mother-is-8-months-pregnant-and-117104430132.html\">told the woman<\/a>\u00a0they would &#8220;euthanize&#8221; her baby:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe whole first day was counseling and testing to make sure it was safe to do the procedure. They want to make sure you completely understand what is going to happen and that no one is pressuring you into the decision. At the end of the day, I signed all the paperwork, and <em>the doctor injected the baby with a drug that, over a few hours, slowed her heart to still<\/em>. It was a very, very difficult day.\u00a0<em>Euthanizing the baby is, obviously, a very hard thing to do.<\/em>\u00a0After the injection, he asked how I was feeling, and I just said, \u201cI feel so sad. I\u2019m going to miss her.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You might be asking, &#8220;What is done to &#8216;euthanize&#8217; a preborn baby?&#8221; To put it bluntly, an off-label use of a heart medication is used to cause cardiac arrest in the child.\u00a0Southwestern Women&#8217;s Options states on its website, &#8220;Once the cervix is ready, medications will be administered which will start labor and result in the delivery of a stillborn. <strong>On the first day, an injection of Digoxin will also be administered to stop the fetal heart beat<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_170680\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170680\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-170680\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Late-Term-abortion-clinic-uses-Digoxin-to-stop-heartbeat-700x205.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Late-Term-abortion-clinic-uses-Digoxin-to-stop-heartbeat-700x205.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Late-Term-abortion-clinic-uses-Digoxin-to-stop-heartbeat-300x88.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Late-Term-abortion-clinic-uses-Digoxin-to-stop-heartbeat-768x225.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Late-Term-abortion-clinic-uses-Digoxin-to-stop-heartbeat-500x147.jpg 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Late-Term-abortion-clinic-uses-Digoxin-to-stop-heartbeat.jpg 1210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-170680\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Late Term abortion clinic uses Digoxin to stop heartbeat<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Blogging abortionist <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-choice-how-can-you-oppose-abortion-pill-reversal\/\">Leah Torres<\/a>, who <a href=\"http:\/\/leahtorres.com\/abortions-save-lives\/\">claims<\/a> that all abortions &#8220;save lives&#8221; (except the baby&#8217;s life, of course) also described the act of &#8220;euthanizing&#8221; a preborn child not as barbaric, but as a method of avoiding the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-live-birth-dilemma-haunted-abortion-profiteers-since-legalization\/\">dreaded complication<\/a> of the infant being <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/ten-babies-born-alive-abortions-2015-3-states\/\">born alive<\/a>.\u00a0Torres <a href=\"http:\/\/leahtorres.com\/end-of-life-care-before-it-begins\/\">writes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>During an abortion in the 2nd trimester, specifically after 22 weeks, it is general practice to perform feticide (injection of a lethal medicine into the amniotic cavity or into the fetal heart) to essentially <em>euthanize the fetus<\/em> prior to the dilation and evacuation (D&amp;E) procedure. It is therefore <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/babies-left-die-survive-abortion\/\">not alive<\/a> once the abortion procedure is started.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Torres goes on to blame the 2003 Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act for this requirement of an &#8220;intra-amniotic injection&#8221; which she&#8217;s says &#8220;put[s] the woman at risk of injury and infection&#8230; prior to the D&amp;E.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.societyfp.org\/_documents\/resources\/InductionofFetalDemise.pdf\">report<\/a> from the Society of Family Planning (SFP), whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.societyfp.org\/About-SFP\/SFP-mission.aspx\">mission<\/a> is to support research on contraception and abortion, suggests that euthanizing the baby protects the abortionist from being charged with violating the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The role of inducing demise before dilation and evacuation (D&amp;E) remains unclear, except for legal considerations in the United States when an intact delivery is intended.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is clear from the SFP report that the use of a feticide like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerformedicalprogress.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/CMPfactsheetdigoxin.pdf\"><strong>Digoxin<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(which, while it is meant to stop the fetal heart, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortionist-explains-aborted-babies-born-alive\/\">isn&#8217;t always successful<\/a>)\u00a0to &#8220;euthanize&#8221; a preborn baby before abortion isn&#8217;t altruistic. No, there is no concern that the infant will be in agony while it is aborted; there is simply an admission that the abortionist could face criminal charges if the child is accidentally aborted alive:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>By electing to use an agent with established feticidal properties at a dose and by a route that have been established to ensure cardiac asystole in most cases, there is no intention of performing the banned abortion procedure&#8230; [it will] demonstrate the abortion provider&#8217;s intention to avoid the banned procedure and allows documentation of the absence of cardiac activity, thus protecting the provider.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The video below explains what happens in a late-term abortion using digoxin:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/r5Af8vIym2o\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the NM undercover video, the caller is given more details of what happens after the feticide is administered to &#8220;euthanize&#8221; her child.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Labor is going to be induced here in the clinic, usually one to two days later,&#8221; the staffer advises.\u00a0&#8220;The doctor will use a substance; it is called laminaria. She will place that in the cervix overnight&#8230; and it will very gradually begin to open up your cervix overnight.&#8221;\u00a0Then the staffer tells the caller she would need to stay &#8220;close by&#8221; in a hotel near the abortion facility.<\/p>\n<p>This little bit of instruction is important because the abortion staffer knows that once Digoxin is injected into the womb, the woman could go into what the industry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.societyfp.org\/_documents\/resources\/InductionofFetalDemise.pdf\">calls<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;extramural delivery,&#8221; which means she could go into labor and delivery before her scheduled abortion.\u00a0The chances of this occurring increase with each additional laminaria prior to the scheduled abortion, according to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.contraceptionjournal.org\/article\/S0010-7824(14)00388-6\/pdf\">study<\/a> of late-term abortions at UCLA, published by the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/can-we-trust-new-study-claiming-women-certain-about-abortions\/\">Journal Contraception<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If the cervix dilates and your body may go into labor &#8212; then &#8212; you call us. That&#8217;s what you do,&#8221; the SWO abortion staffer tells the caller.\u00a0The caller is then told that the abortionist will induce labor in the facility, where the delivery process will begin and &#8220;could take several hours.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When a Live Action <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/inhuman-late-term-abortion\/\">undercover investigator<\/a> visited this same facility in 2013, she was advised that if she went into labor before her scheduled abortion, she would have to deliver the baby into the toilet of her hotel room &#8212; and, of course, there was the possibility of an accidental live birth.\u00a0In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/just-sit-on-the-toilet-nm-abortionists-send-women-to-hotel-rooms-alone-to-await-room-service-abortions\/\">video<\/a> below, Southwestern Women&#8217;s Options abortionists Shelly Sella and Carmen Landau tell the investigator that they cannot deliver a &#8220;live baby.&#8221;\u00a0An unnamed counselor at the facility advises Live Action\u2019s 27-weeks-pregnant investigator:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If we can\u2019t catch it [delivery of the dead baby \u2013 the final stage of the abortion procedure] early enough,\u00a0<em>which has happened<\/em>\u2026 then you\u2019ll want to unlock the door to the hotel room, get your cell phone, and just sit on the toilet.\u00a0 You don\u2019t have to look at anything \u2026 you can stay on the phone with us until the doctor and nurse get there[.]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Abortionist Carmen Landau echoes this advice, telling the Live Action investigator to \u201csit on the toilet\u201d and \u201cunlock the hotel room.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cJust sit there,\u201d Landau says, \u201cand you would not move until we come and get you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uCX-tLqETpk\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Southwestern Women\u2019s Options was also a subject of another Live Action video, titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Q04-l2cm1oQ\">What is Human?<\/a>,\u201d in which Landau likened the lethal injection that kills the preborn baby to \u201ca flu shot, really.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is a sad reality that babies in all gestational stages are targeted for death in the womb.\u00a0Human beings at all stages of life are sacred and should not have their lives extinguished at the whim of those who callously profit from their demise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A newly released undercover recording captures a late-term abortion facility staffer telling a &#8220;healthy woman posing as 25 weeks pregnant&#8221; that they will &#8220;euthanize the fetus.&#8221; \u00a0The disturbing recording was released by\u00a0Abortion Free New Mexico\u00a0and\u00a0Priests for Life,\u00a0and was\u00a0published by the New Mexico group, Pro-life Witness.
