The top twelve employees at the mothership, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, have collectively seen their average salaries go up 13 percent in two years.<\/p>\n<p>ALL found that with an average income of $237,999, these Planned Parenthood CEOs are in the top five percent of all workers in the United States.\u00a0The group noted that Planned Parenthood&#8217;s national spokesperson and president, Cecile Richards, has seen her income explode by a whopping\u00a062 percent, making close to a million dollars a year (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-ceos-salary-doubles-in-three-years-approaches-1-million\/\">$957,952<\/a>) at the so-called non-profit. Even though it is relatively taboo for anyone in the abortion industry to admit that killing babies is profitable, Hoffman acknowledges that she makes millions.<\/p>\n<p>In a book\u00a0she published years ago called &#8220;Intimate Wars,&#8221; Hoffman admitted she was \u201cmaking money off the movement\u201d and explained that making money from abortion &#8220;could be said of every abortion provider.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In fact, as Hoffman put it, &#8220;I was quite pleasantly surprised when I made my first million dollars.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Choices&#8221; for Women<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 2012 article in The Feminist Press described how Hoffman&#8217;s facility, Choices, began, nearly 41 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The article details how Hoffman teamed up with Dr. Martin Gold to open the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Choices abortion facility, writing:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As the cofounder of the Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York (HIP), the first not-for-profit health maintenance organization (HMO) on the east coast, Gold and a colleague approached HIP&#8217;s board of directors and proposed to offer abortion services for their subscribers&#8230;. A year later, in 1971, Flushing Women&#8217;s Medical Center &#8211; later renamed Choices Women&#8217;s Medical Center &#8211; opened its doors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Although Hoffman opened her first facility in the 1970&#8217;s just after New York legalized abortion, Choices shows it was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/appext20.dos.ny.gov\/corp_public\/CORPSEARCH.ENTITY_INFORMATION?p_token=3753838A5DAEC2493F9ACA1DF1FA3CF3ADB89E29B19D4EA549E24429102FDCF9582E193AC54A580F4288B0165661F14F&amp;p_nameid=EC611F39AEB8E70C&amp;p_corpid=6E16B052BC472045&amp;p_captcha=15800&amp;p_captcha_check=FD31C5566D1AD2C6&amp;p_entity_name=Choices%20&amp;p_name_type=A&amp;p_search_type=BEGINS&amp;p_srch_results_page=1\">licensed<\/a> with the state as a corporation in 1985.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_170562\" style=\"width: 638px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170562\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-170562 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Merle-Hoffman-Choices-Abortion.jpg\" alt=\"Millionaire Abortionist Merle Hoffman\" width=\"628\" height=\"368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Merle-Hoffman-Choices-Abortion.jpg 628w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Merle-Hoffman-Choices-Abortion-300x176.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Merle-Hoffman-Choices-Abortion-500x293.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-170562\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Millionaire Abortionist Merle Hoffman<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In the beginning stages, Hoffman said the abortion facility saw six or seven patients and charged $77.00 per procedure.\u00a0In 2011, Hoffman admitted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/meghancasserly\/2011\/12\/05\/the-millionaire-abortionist-womens-lives-are-my-business\/2\/#71d2546e44ac\">Forbes<\/a> that her clinic had performed &#8220;almost 20,000 abortions a year&#8230;.&#8221;\u00a0&#8220;Now,&#8221; she added, &#8220;we see about 10,000.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hoffman appears to enjoy promoting herself and her so-called accomplishments within the abortion movement on a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.merlehoffman.com\/\">blog<\/a>\u00a0operated in her name. She\u00a0says she became politically active after passage of the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/yes-your-tax-dollars-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood\/\">Hyde Amendment<\/a>, which prohibited most federal tax dollars from funding abortions.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of Hyde, Merle Hoffman began publicly speaking out in favor of abortion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Co-Founder of the National Abortion Federation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 1977, Hoffman <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/44142052\">bragged<\/a> that she co-founded the National Abortion Federation (NAF), formerly known as the National Abortion Council (NAC).\u00a0She detailed the events in &#8220;Intimate Wars,&#8221;\u00a0reminiscing about a 1976 invitation from the National Association of Abortion Facilities (NNAF) to attend a national meeting of providers.<\/p>\n<p>Hoffman writes that within a few months of attending that meeting, she was nominated NNAF&#8217;s vice president.<\/p>\n<p>She credits her marketing style of promoting herself as an advocate for women, rather than as someone who does abortions as appealing to some NNAF members. After all, marketing is all in how one\u00a0presents herself and her business, regardless of what one actually does.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Hoffman claims she received so much support that instead of VP, she threw her hat into a run for NNAF president, and to her surprise, she won. Within a few months, Hoffman claims, the NAC joined forces with NNAF to become the National Abortion Federation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Women Did Know the Truth&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Merle Hoffman has been criticized for openly admitting the humanity of the preborn child.<\/p>\n<p>In &#8220;Intimate Wars,&#8221; she described the pro-choice movement of that day as choosing to &#8220;depersonalize the fetus,&#8221; claiming that women knew exactly what abortion was.<\/p>\n<p>This admission that women were very much aware of what they were doing when paying for their abortion was the impetus for controversy because Hoffman contradicted the unscientific claims of the day that the fetus was a &#8220;blob of tissue,&#8221; a &#8220;parasite,&#8221; and not human. As the owner of her own abortion facility, Hoffman knew otherwise, and it conflicted her. However, she still inaccurately stated that the life inside the womb, while <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/40-quotes-from-medical-experts-that-prove-human-life-begins-at-conception\/\">human<\/a>, was merely &#8220;potential.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But women did know the truth, just as I knew it, deep down, when I allowed myself to recognize it&#8230;. At times this really would move me profoundly as I sat opposite the women I counseled prior to their abortions, acutely aware of the potential lives growing inside them that would soon cease to exist. I began to think critically, to come to terms with what was going on. Each time I did that I came out of the process more committed than before. I had no conception, either religious or philosophical that &#8220;life was sacred.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If the women going to Hoffman were aware that she does not believe life is sacred &#8212; i.e., that human life inherently has value &#8212; perhaps they would be less likely to trust her with their own lives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Abortion Stops a Beating Heart&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hoffman has been a controversial figure in the abortion movement for years, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2012\/01\/02\/abortion_pioneer_defend_rights_or_lose_them\/\">Salon<\/a> pointed out in 2012:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Interestingly, although the standard pro-choice line is essentially to let the woman define the embryo or fetus for herself, Hoffman has a more controversial stance: \u201cIn the beginning they were calling it a baby. We were saying it was only blood and tissue. Let\u2019s agree this is a life form, a potential life; you\u2019re terminating it. You don\u2019t have to argue that abortion stops a beating heart. It does.\u201d She adds, \u201cI can\u2019t say it\u2019s just like an appendectomy. It isn\u2019t. It was easy to imagine the fetus as a bunch of cells that one could define as one wished.<\/p>\n<p>But even in the beginning I had an inkling that this mentality was the easy way out, that it didn\u2019t go far enough to do justice to the experience of abortion.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In its 2012 interview with Hoffman, Forbes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/meghancasserly\/2011\/12\/05\/the-millionaire-abortionist-womens-lives-are-my-business\/#6188295d48fa\">referred<\/a> to the abortion clinic operator as a &#8220;Millionaire Abortionist&#8221; and a &#8220;capitalist,&#8221; and asked Hoffman why she was receiving criticism from other feminists for making a profit performing abortions:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There are many feminists who feel&#8211;and not all, but many\u2014that a real feminist has to be a socialist. I have been accused of \u201cmaking money off of the movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;\u00a0I\u2019m not apologetic that I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I have created Choices and have made a profit. &#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>And people may say \u201cabortion is your business,\u201d but I say no. Women\u2019s lives are my business. If I do well, like any business, it\u2019s because more people want to come to me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the video below, Merle Hoffman claims that her power and money are simply the result of the fact that so many &#8220;people wanted to use my services, so I see no problem with that at all.&#8221; She disagrees with abortionists and facility owners who want to downplay the money that goes hand-in-hand with ending the lives of children:\u00a0&#8220;It&#8217;s always this apologetic, &#8216;I don&#8217;t deserve the money,&#8217; &#8216;I don&#8217;t deserve the power.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4yV70jbOqUw\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Exactly what does Hoffman do with all that money and power?<\/p>\n<p>According to &#8220;Intimate Wars&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Money has given me the power to support political campaigns and donate to worthy causes. In the nineties I spent half a million dollars every year publishing\u00a0<em>On the Issues<\/em>\u00a0and started a 501(c)3 called the Diana Foundation so that I could donate to feminist groups and individual radicals that had no access to institutional funds.\u00a0I donated to the campaigns of pro-choice politicians like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EgiZUT_op9g\">Schumer<\/a> and Hevesi, and of course paid for political actions put on by the PCC.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hoffman claimed that Senator Schumer was a &#8220;very strong supporter of mine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Millionaire Has an Abortion:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Merle Hoffman once admitted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/44142052\">speech<\/a> before the Abortion Care Network that the act of abortion &#8220;is about power&#8221;\u00a0where women were &#8220;exercising the right of fetal existence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yet, of her own abortion, Hoffman <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/44142052\">explained<\/a> how she referred to her baby as &#8220;female&#8221; with whom she had a &#8220;shared connection.&#8221;\u00a0In a reading from her book, Hoffman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?306893-1\/intimate-wars\">admitted<\/a> that she wrote in her diary, &#8220;For one night, I am a mother,&#8221; adding that her abortion gave her both &#8220;relief and sadness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She described to attendees at the Abortion Care Network conference how she felt as she made the decision, recounting holding her stomach and saying, &#8220;Sorry little one, it&#8217;s just not time.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An article published by a New York media outlet has indicated that a long standing abortion facility owner netted ten million dollars last year.
