But a baby is considered a &#8220;micro-preemie&#8221; if born before 26 weeks gestation or weighing less than one pound, 12 ounces. As the weeks go on, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.verywell.com\/what-is-a-micro-preemie-2748625\">the chance for survival increases<\/a>. For example, while only about 10 percent of babies born at 22 weeks survive, 90 percent of babies born at 26 weeks survive.<\/p>\n<p>Every new life is a miracle from the moment of fertilization, and some are fighters from the moment they leave the womb. These four babies are proof that life is worth fighting for.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baby Lawrence (&#8220;Leni&#8221;)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Born on May 9, 2017, after his mother, Chastity, went into labor at 22 weeks, baby Leni weighed approximately one pound. He was purple, and his mother worried that he wouldn&#8217;t survive. But thanks to Sacramento paramedics, who wrapped the micro-preemie in foil and tried to help him breathe, Leni did survive.<\/p>\n<p>Since that time, little Leni has had multiple surgeries, but he came through all of them. According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcra.com\/article\/born-at-just-1-pound-sacramento-preemie-defies-odds\/12224946\">a local news report<\/a>, Leni was the &#8220;youngest newborn to be resuscitated at Sutter Health.&#8221; His mother told the news outlet, &#8220;He&#8217;s definitely my miracle baby. Smith and his wife Jewel, was born. At 21 weeks old, she <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/856799\/j-r-smith-brings-prematurely-born-baby-girl-dakota-home-from-hospital-nicu\">weighed only one pound<\/a> &#8212; a micro preemie. Dakota (a.k.a. &#8220;Kota Bear&#8221;) was incubated for the first two months of her life. Austin&#8217;s mother, Helen, has polycystic ovarian syndrome and didn&#8217;t think she could even have children. When she went into premature labor, doctors asked Austin&#8217;s parents if they wanted medical assistance for him. Helen&#8217;s response was, &#8220;I told doctors that if he came out breathing, I wanted them to do everything they could and they did.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the legal limit for abortion in the UK, where Austin and his family live, is 24 weeks. However, as Live Action News&#8217; Cassy Fiano <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/the-british-medical-association-decriminalizing-abortion\/\">reported<\/a> in June, &#8220;the British Medical Association has just voted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bma.org.uk\/news\/2017\/june\/doctors-back-decriminalisation-of-abortion\">to adopt the decriminalization of abortion<\/a> as their formal policy,&#8221; which means that &#8220;[t]he group will now begin lobbying the government for a change in abortion law.&#8221; In other words, abortions without limits could become reality in the UK soon.<\/p>\n<p>Babies like Austin drive home the truth that children in the womb are, without a doubt, real human beings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpermalink.php%3Fstory_fbid%3D1945220619048556%26id%3D100006819091804%26substory_index%3D0&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"609\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpermalink.php%3Fstory_fbid%3D1944529022451049%26id%3D100006819091804&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"505\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Juliana McBride<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After a whirlwind romance and elopement, Missouri-based couple Julie and Jevon McBride wanted to start a family. Sadly, it took ten years and &#8220;three miscarriages, hormone shots, disappointment, [and] a thousand tears,&#8221; wrote the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stripes.com\/first-came-love-then-came-marriage-then-after-a-head-on-wreck-a-beautiful-baby-1.448820#.WYi6vq2ZN-U\">Kansas City Star<\/a> in January 2017.\u00a0Then, the McBrides found out they were pregnant again. They were overjoyed, keeping journal entries about Julie&#8217;s pregnancy with their little &#8220;bean.&#8221;\u00a0But at 25 weeks, on October 7, 2016, Julie and Jevon were in a head-on collision that shattered Jevon&#8217;s leg and caused Julie&#8217;s water to break, sending her into early labor. Little Juliana was born the next day via C-section, weighing 1 pound, 11 ounces.
