The July 21, 2017, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.help.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/072117%20-%20CDC%20-%20Prevention%20and%20Public%20Health%20Fund.pdf\">letter<\/a>\u00a0addressed to\u00a0Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald, the new head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),\u00a0inquired about how the passage of &#8220;Trumpcare&#8221; might impact Planned Parenthood &#8212; not how funding Planned Parenthood would impact the taxpayer.<\/p>\n<p>It read in part:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[&#8230;] Trumpcare would ban federal funding for one year for Planned Parenthood, cutting off access to trusted providers where many women and men access critical preventive services, including in many areas with few other health care options. Planned Parenthood provides hundreds of thousands Pap tests and breast exams each year, and they provide more than four million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV. \u00a0Denying access to these services, especially in rural areas, will leave patients across the country without access to contraception, cancer screenings, testing for and treatment of STIs, and much more.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In their letter, Senators Patty Murray, Al Franken, Christopher Murphy, Margaret Hassan, Sheldon Whitehouse, Tim Kane, and Bernie Sanders issued a list of requests for the CDC head, including this one:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Please explain how Trumpcare&#8217;s proposal to ban federal funding for Planned Parenthood could limit access to preventive services, including <strong>contraception, Pap tests, breast exams, tests and\/or treatments for STIs, and cancer screenings.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/support\/donate\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-158231\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/LAN-donate-300x250.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Live Action News reviewed the list of &#8220;Planned Parenthood services&#8221; these Senators inquired about and here is what we found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pap tests\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0DOWN 74% since 2005: 1,116,681 (<a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2006-2007-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\">2005<\/a>) vs. 293,799 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/18\/40\/1840b04b-55d3-4c00-959d-11817023ffc8\/20170526_annualreport_p02_singles.pdf\">2015<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Breast exams <\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0DOWN 62% since 2005: 842,399 (2005) vs. 321,700 (2015).\u00a0And Planned Parenthood\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/mammogram-falsehoods\/\">performs<\/a>\u00a0<em>zero<\/em> mammograms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sexually transmitted infections testing<\/strong>:\u00a0UP 47% since 2005: 2,899,066 (2005) vs. 4,266,689 (2015)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contraception<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0DOWN 25% since 2005: 3,744,498 (2005) vs. 2,808,815 (2015)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cancer screenings<\/strong> &#8211; DOWN 67% since 2005:\u00a02,009,835 (2005<em>) <\/em>vs. 665,234 (2015)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/despite-doubling-taxpayer-funds-decade-planned-parenthood-health-services-plummeted\/\">nearly doubled<\/a> in the past ten years, up 82 percent from $305.3 million (<a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2005-2006-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\">2005<\/a>) to $554.6 million (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/18\/40\/1840b04b-55d3-4c00-959d-11817023ffc8\/20170526_annualreport_p02_singles.pdf\">2015<\/a>), patients and services at Planned Parenthood have <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/prenatal-care-cancer-screenings-decrease-planned-parenthood-loses-100000-patients\/\">decreased<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What hasn&#8217;t decreased in the past ten years is Planned Parenthood&#8217;s share of the abortion <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/if-planned-parenthood-not-abortion-why-more-than-a-third-in-us\/\">market<\/a> and the number of preborn babies they abort.\u00a0Abortions are up 24 percent since 2005 (264,943) to 328,348 in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>But this is not the first time politicians have misled the public to keep precious tax dollars flowing into Planned Parenthood&#8217;s coffers.<\/p>\n<p>Live Action has previously <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/politicians-falsely-claim-prenatal-services-justify-funding-planned-parenthood\/\">exposed<\/a> the way that pro-abortion politicians have touted false Planned Parenthood talking points in order to keep the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/abortioncorporation\/\">abortion corporation<\/a> funded to the tune of $1.5 million dollars per day.\u00a0The fact is, the millions of government dollars funneled to the faux health care organization has not helped to better health care in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RJjSPsVuS8g\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood is not good for the taxpayer. The organization is abortion focused, and this letter is a clear indication that politicians are more willing to protect Planned Parenthood than the American taxpayer.<\/p>\n<p>To emphasize this fact, take a look at this small sample of some Planned Parenthood abuses, which certain abortion-friendly politicians seem willing to overlook:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/guttmacher-report-women-dont-need-planned-parenthood-contraception\/\">evidence<\/a>\u00a0that women do not need Planned Parenthood for contraceptive services.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/prenatal-care-cancer-screenings-decrease-planned-parenthood-loses-100000-patients\/\">evidence<\/a> that Planned Parenthood is losing patients.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yJeLTE7aG78\">evidence<\/a> that services at Planned Parenthood are on the decrease, despite an <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/if-planned-parenthood-not-abortion-why-more-than-a-third-in-us\/\">increase<\/a>\u00a0in abortions and government funding.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qtgqxvaV-8U\">evidence<\/a> dispelling Planned Parenthood&#8217;s 3% abortion myth.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ekgiScr364Y\">evidence<\/a> that Planned Parenthood lies about the services it provides, including prenatal care.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tu_0-iD-rPk\">evidence<\/a> that Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms, despite claiming that it did.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-taxpayer-title-x-fund-abortion\/\">evidence<\/a> that funding Planned Parenthood also funds its abortion facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mkxUAR3a_Jc\">evidence<\/a> that Planned Parenthood has abortion quotas.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=acb1KUESU6M\">evidence<\/a> that abortion is the primary service that tax-funded Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Q7YPUDcMBDE\">offers<\/a> pregnant women\u00a0because as a former worker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZDHyy9yCerg\">testified<\/a>, \u201cthey made their money if somebody had an abortion.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/abortioncorporation\/\">evidence<\/a> regarding the poor standard of care Planned Parenthood gives to their clients. Former Planned Parenthood managers accused the abortion focused organization of &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0PUFJwiHlJM\">treating women like cattle<\/a>&#8221; and using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_WXjoqbStEM\">ultrasounds<\/a> only for abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Byb6ibQb4Nc\">evidence<\/a> that Planned Parenthood is misinforming women about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Byb6ibQb4Nc\">development<\/a> of their babies.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthoods-connections-to-eugenics\/\">evidence<\/a> that Planned Parenthood was a eugenics-based organization at the time of its founding.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/report-planned-parenthood-found-engaging-in-medicaid-fraud\/\">evidence<\/a> that Planned Parenthood has been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/audits-show-planned-parenthood-non-compliant-with-federal-discount-drug-program\/\">cited<\/a>\u00a0for overbilling abuses and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/profit-no-matter-what\/\">Medicaid fraud<\/a>, and for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/private-information-planned-parenthood\/\">violating<\/a>\u00a0patient privacy.<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-failed-report-child-sexual-abuse-decades-part-one\/\">evidence<\/a> that Planned Parenthood is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-failed-report-child-sexual-abuse-decades-part-one\/\">failing<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-has-failed-to-report-child-sexual-abuse-for-decades-part-two\/\">report<\/a>\u00a0child sexual abuse (a violation that alone should\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/regulation-remove-title-x-funding-planned-parenthood\/\">result<\/a>\u00a0in the organization losing millions of taxpayer\u00a0dollars granted to it\u00a0under the federal Title X Family Planning Program).<\/li>\n<li>Documented <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/5-scandalous-moments-from-live-actions-planned-parenthood-sexed-investigation\/\">evidence<\/a> on the kind of sex \u201ceducation\u201d the abortion corporation is giving to teens. Planned Parenthood promotes BDSM and other disturbing sexual practices to teenagers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The list above does not even include the number of women injured or killed after using Planned Parenthood&#8217;s alleged &#8220;services.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In May, the U.S. House passed a measure that would repeal parts of Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood for one year.
