Now that a healthcare bill <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/breaking-u-s-senate-introduces-bill-to-defund-planned-parenthood\/\">will be considered in the Senate<\/a> to do just that, Planned Parenthood has been especially active in its fight to retain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/18\/40\/1840b04b-55d3-4c00-959d-11817023ffc8\/20170526_annualreport_p02_singles.pdf\">the over $550 million that is shoveled in from taxpayer dollars every year.<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">One of the abortion corporation&#8217;s tactics has been to cite poll data which uses misleading questions (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-desperate-to-hold-onto-taxpayer-funding-heres-why-they-dont-deserve-it\/\">though Planned Parenthood is known for doing this regardless of whether its funding is in jeopardy)<\/a>. On Friday, Planned Parenthood boasted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PlannedParenthoodAction\/#\">on Facebook<\/a> and Twitter that support for the abortion business &#8220;has been consistent,&#8221; and that people don&#8217;t want Planned Parenthood defunded.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Planned Parenthood&#8217;s support has been consistent. People <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/StandWithPP?src=hash\">#StandWithPP<\/a> &amp; don&#8217;t want politicians to block our care\u2192<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YEeEsfbVPc\">https:\/\/t.co\/YEeEsfbVPc<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fhCqVkOXsr\">pic.twitter.com\/fhCqVkOXsr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Planned Parenthood (@PPact) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PPact\/status\/880506660854411268\">June 29, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Bridget Todd,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthoodaction.org\/blog\/planned-parenthood-supporters-fight-to-save-healthcare\">in writing for Planned Parenthood Action Fund,<\/a>\u00a0included a link to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/national\/release-detail?ReleaseID=2443\">the Quinnipiac poll<\/a> in question, as well as a screenshot of the question. She did not, however, discuss the language of the question, which can only be to her group&#8217;s benefit, as it downright misleads respondents. The question asks:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">If you knew that federal government funding to Planned Parenthood was being used only for non-abortion health issues such as breast cancer screening, would you still favor cutting off funding to Planned Parenthood?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">First and foremost, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/yes-your-tax-dollars-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood\/\">it is not accurate<\/a> to say that federal government funding is used &#8220;only for non-abortion health issues.&#8221; The Hyde Amendment restricting funding for abortions has limitations, and allows for abortions considered to be &#8220;medically necessary.&#8221; This is important, because this even includes reasons of &#8220;mental health&#8221; &#8212; and to Planned Parenthood abortionists,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/unearthed-court-docs-planned-parenthood-considers-all-abortions-medically-necessary\/\"><em>all <\/em>abortions are medically necessary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">17 states also allow for taxpayer funding of abortions &#8212; states like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/taxpayers-fund-abortion-new-mexico\/\">New Mexico<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/taxpayers-spent-millions-medicaid-abortions-mental-health-maryland\/\">Maryland<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/minnesota-abortion-numbers-drop-taxpayers-foot-larger-portion-bill\/\">Minnesota<\/a>. As <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/yes-your-tax-dollars-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood\/\">an admitted recipient of Title X funding<\/a>, Planned Parenthood is supposed to offer pregnant women information on all their options &#8212; but it&#8217;s not entirely cooperative when it comes to the necessary requirements for such funding.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-pregnant-women-abortion\/\">It not only fails to offer pregnant women next to nothing besides abortion<\/a>, but <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/yes-planned-parenthood-claims-prenatal-care-yes-lie\/\">has very few locations which offer prenatal care<\/a>, and its <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthoods-president-deceptive-adoption-referrals\/\">adoption referrals<\/a> are <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/prenatal-care-cancer-screenings-decrease-planned-parenthood-loses-100000-patients\/\">also insignificant<\/a> compared to its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-newly-released-annual-report-shows-abortions-increased-again\/\">abortion numbers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">There&#8217;s also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/yes-your-tax-dollars-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood\/\">the fungibility factor<\/a>, as <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/the-fungibility-factor-funding-emergency-contraception-is-funding-potential-abortion\/\">best explained here<\/a>, which means that any amount of money Planned Parenthood gets, for whatever kind of service, its other funding is that much more easily freed up for abortions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It&#8217;s not clear or not as to if the most misleading service was chosen by the pollsters. It&#8217;s not even likely that much money is going to services &#8220;such as breast cancer screening[s],&#8221; as Quinnipiac offers. \u00a0There is a difference between breast cancer screenings, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/learn\/3percent\/#numbers\">of which Planned Parenthood only performed a 1.8 percent market share<\/a>, and mammograms, which Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/mammosham-watch-the-viral-video-exposing-planned-parenthood-false-mammogram-claims\/\">does <em>not <\/em>and has never provided<\/a> &#8212;\u00a0though <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-ceo-falsely-told-congress-they-never-claimed-to-provide-mammograms\/\">one can&#8217;t expect the organization to be honest and forthcoming about it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/petition\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-160409\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DefundAd-400b-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Planned Parenthood performs only a minuscule market share of such services. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/prenatal-care-cancer-screenings-decrease-planned-parenthood-loses-100000-patients\/\">cancer screenings have declined<\/a>\u00a0while the organization <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-newly-released-annual-report-shows-abortions-increased-again\/\">received even <em>more<\/em> taxpayer funding<\/a> (according to Planned Parenthood&#8217;s 2015-2016 annual report), and committed <em>more<\/em> abortions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">If the issue were truly a matter of heath care, and not a political temper tantrum over taxpayer funding, there would be no question. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) provide the same services as Planned Parenthood, except for abortion. They also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-can-be-replaced-health-clinics-outnumber-them-20-to-1\/\">outnumber Planned Parenthood by 20 to 1<\/a> with their 13,000 locations.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">With such a deceptive question, it&#8217;s not entirely surprising that 80 percent of poll respondents said &#8220;no&#8221; to cutting off funding from an organization which they were led to believe provides legitimate health care services.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The poll comes from March, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/republicans-introduce-bill-defunding-planned-parenthood-and-replacing-obamacare\/\">around when the bill to replace Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood was first announced<\/a>. So why is Planned Parenthood just now reporting on it?
