According to Georgia Right to Life President Dan Becker, all 159 Georgia counties will allow voters to approve a resolution that gives personhood status to all human beings from conception to natural death. Christian Newswire\u2019s Monday press release<\/a> says the ballot question will appear on the July 31st<\/sup> Republican primary ballot. In the press release, Becker said that \u201cof all the freedoms we hold sacred, the right to life is paramount. It is the ultimate civil right granted to us by God – without this right all other rights are moot.\u201d<\/p>\n

The question on the ballot reads, \u201cShall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to provide that the paramount right to life is vested in each innocent human being from his or her earliest biological beginning without regard to age, race, sex, health, function, or condition of dependency?\u201d If voters approve the resolution, which is non-binding, the Georgia legislature would have to vote to place the question on the general election ballot in 2014. Despite the resolution\u2019s non-binding status, Becker says approving the resolution would \u201csend a clear message to all elected officials in the state that a majority of voters reject the current culture of death created by abortion on demand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recently in Georgia, Governor Nathan Deal signed a law that prohibits abortions after a pre-born child can feel pain. The law sets the deadline at 20 weeks into a pregnancy to receive an abortion. Of the law signed by Deal, Becker noted, \u201cThat was a significant step forward but now it\u2019s time to completely end this holocaust in Georgia.\u201d According to the Christian Newswire press release, over 34,000 pre-born children are killed each year in Georgia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile abortion advocates like to claim the practice should be safe, legal and rare, the reality is that 56 million innocent lives have been sacrificed on the alter of choice since Roe v Wade <\/em>in 1973,\u201d Becker said.<\/p>\n
