Perhaps the last 50 years of collected science <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.gmu.edu\/assets\/files\/publications\/working_papers\/1335NoCompellingInterest.pdf\">calling that premise seriously into doubt<\/a> is finally gaining purchase.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/petition\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-160409\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DefundAd-400b-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Perhaps it\u2019s the fact that, even though the purportedly \u201cnecessary\u201d and \u201cessential\u201d contraception mandate has been in place for five years, the rate of use among sexually active women <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/news-release\/2017\/new-study-finds-little-change-patterns-us-contraceptive-use-2012-2015\">has not changed<\/a>. Or it could be that cost is not even on the list of reasons the 11 percent of sexually active women who <a href=\"http:\/\/womenspeakforthemselves.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/WSFTLSOPBrief-3.pdf\">do not use contraception<\/a>\u00a0frequently cite. Or maybe the Supreme Court has rejected the argument so often that the Lena Dunhams of the world now know it\u2019s a loser.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Whatever the reason, those working to advance an authentic notion of freedom and human dignity should consider it a small victory when a leading mouthpiece for the contraception-and-abortion pipeline sees a serious weakness in her cause\u2019s primary strategy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>~ Annie R.
