The organization\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ee;\"><u>commits<\/u><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/learn\/3percent\/#numbers\">\u00a0the lion&#8217;s\u00a0share<\/a>, approximately 35 percent\u00a0of the nation&#8217;s abortions. But the group&#8217;s\u00a0supporters seem to attempt to avoid this inconvenient fact at all costs, instead highlighting Planned Parenthood&#8217;s\u00a0legitimate healthcare services, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/despite-doubling-taxpayer-funds-decade-planned-parenthood-health-services-plummeted\/\">which continue to plummet, even with increases in taxpayer funding.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the latest attempts at avoidance comes\u00a0from Planned Parenthood supporter and well-known\u00a0screenwriter Joss Whedon. In <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.ppaction.org\/site\/SPageServer\/;jsessionid=00000000.app20109a?pagename=pp_ppol_WhedonVideo_0517_Landing_c3.html&amp;s_subsrc=3NALz1711W1N1V&amp;s_src=WhedonVideo_0517_Landing_c3_c3web&amp;NONCE_TOKEN=7AB189E94BD54A3F0BE668EABDC1C2D4\">advertising Whedon&#8217;s\u00a0new\u00a0short film<\/a>, Planned Parenthood invites viewers to say &#8220;Hell Yes, I Stand With PP!&#8221; The choice language isn&#8217;t the worst part, however. Planned Parenthood also wants viewers to &#8220;Watch. Share. Slay.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fofficialjoss%2Fvideos%2F1871770046417022%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If you didn&#8217;t know that the term &#8220;slay&#8221; was a play on Whedon&#8217;s <em>Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em>, you&#8217;d probably do a double-take.\u00a0Slaying\u00a0babies is what Planned Parenthood does every day (about 887 times)\u00a0&#8212; it just doesn&#8217;t want anyone to talk about that inconvenient fact.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If there&#8217;s anything we&#8217;ve learned from Joss Whedon (<em>Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em>, <em>Firefly<\/em>, <em>The Avengers<\/em>) over the years, it&#8217;s this \u2014 every single one of us has a hero inside; and it&#8217;s our responsibility to use our superpowers to slay,&#8221; Planned Parenthood claims.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, &#8220;slaying&#8221;\u00a0children in the name of empowerment is just so very heroic, isn&#8217;t it? Or not.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood also calls the film&#8221;chilling&#8221; and &#8220;powerful.&#8221; No, it&#8217;s actually propaganda, and completely made-up nonsense. But I&#8217;ll tell you what&#8217;s powerful and chilling: the fact that Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/files\/2114\/5089\/0863\/2014-2015_PPFA_Annual_Report_.pdf\">rakes in over half a billion dollars per\u00a0year from taxpayers,<\/a>\u00a0has been entangled in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthoodexposed.com\/\">scandals and law-breaking,<\/a>\u00a0and kills more human beings than the population of Riverside, California, every single year.<\/p>\n<p>The dramatic film is about the supposed fate which will befall America in the event that\u00a0Planned Parenthood is defunded, which somehow means locations will have to close. Whedon&#8217;s film claims\u00a0several supposed catastrophes will be averted if\u00a0Planned Parenthood remains open, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A woman celebrating her birthday with family members, instead of dying from cancer, because Planned Parenthood was able to catch it early<\/li>\n<li>A young high school couple avoids the awkwardness of STI&#8217;s thanks to peer education<\/li>\n<li>A young woman is able to attend college on a full scholarship, instead of having to deal\u00a0with an unplanned pregnancy (as if she couldn&#8217;t do both), thanks to Planned Parenthood providing her with birth control<\/li>\n<li>Another young woman is also able to attend college, instead of dealing with her almost comically dramatic sobbing mother when her pregnancy test comes back positive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The film involves a lot in reverse, including the climatic moment when\u00a0the young woman who couldn&#8217;t go to college because she\u00a0got pregnant, shows up to a closed Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>But wait! Suddenly the music changes, and the young woman and those behind her are seen walking ahead into Planned Parenthood, instead of going in reverse as they had been for the rest of the short film. In case the music didn&#8217;t make it obvious enough, viewers are supposed to rejoice! Planned Parenthood is a bright and welcoming place, with thriving and happy people inside.<\/p>\n<p>The video ends by asking, &#8220;What world do you want?&#8221; along with\u00a0a reminder to #StandwithPP.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I&#8217;d like a world not dominated by utterly ridiculous propaganda supporting the nation&#8217;s largest abortion chain?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/petition\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-160409\" src=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DefundAd-400b-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a sampling of what&#8217;s wrong with Whedon&#8217;s video:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Defunding Planned Parenthood <em>does not<\/em> mean locations will be forced to close.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If Planned Parenthood is defunded, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/why-women-shouldnt-worry-planned-parenthood-defunded\/\">it does not mean that<\/a> Big Government will storm through every location, kick everyone out, and put police tape around the area. What it <em>does <\/em>mean is that Planned Parenthood will have to stand on its own two feet, just like plenty of nonprofits do (and yes,\u00a0Planned Parenthood claims to be a nonprofit organization). This also brings us to\u00a0the fact that&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Planned Parenthood is already closing locations, all on its own.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As Live Action News <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/last-planned-parenthood-facility-wyoming-will-close-july\/\">just reported<\/a>, Planned Parenthood is closing its sole remaining location in Wyoming, admitting that there are other places women in the state can go to for healthcare. While the location did not commit\u00a0abortions, it did do referrals.<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-closes-three-locations-pennsylvania\/\">is hardly<\/a> the only Planned Parenthood location which has closed &#8212; Planned Parenthood has closed about 200 of its own centers in recent years. There seems to be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-closing-centers-dont-offer-abortion\/\">a pattern<\/a>\u00a0&#8212; most of the locations being shuttered <em>don&#8217;t<\/em>\u00a0commit abortions, further highlighting that Planned Parenthood is first and foremost <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/abortioncorporation\/\">an abortion corporation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Pregnancy, parenting, and getting an education need not be mutually exclusive.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whedon&#8217;s film\u00a0certainly takes on a pro-Planned Parenthood tone, as well as a doom and gloom sense that the world will end without Planned Parenthood&#8217;s\u00a0services. But it&#8217;s not very pro-woman to suggest that pregnant and parenting women need to choose between their education and having a baby. While the abortion industry, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/not-so-strong-planned-parenthood-pushes-idea-women-need-abortion-to-succeed\/\">including and especially Planned Parenthood<\/a>, claims\u00a0that women can only get an education and succeed when they are <em>not<\/em> pregnant, the pro-life movement is there to support women and tell them otherwise. Student for Life of America&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/pregnantoncampus.studentsforlife.org\/\">Pregnant on Campus initiative<\/a> is one source of help, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/pregnant-at-15-janel-proves-that-women-dont-need-abortion-to-succeed\/\">the story of Janel Lanae Young<\/a> is an inspiring example.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. There are other ways teens can learn about avoiding STI&#8217;s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sex education is already a part of many schools&#8217; curricula, though it can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/federal-report-planned-parenthoods-touted-sex-ed-programs-failure\/\">get problematic<\/a> when Planned Parenthood is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-curriculum-coming-to-an-elementary-school-near-you\/\">involved<\/a>\u00a0in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-ignores-facts-teaches-young-children-sexual\/\">delivering sex education<\/a> to students. Far too often, students are sold not only a false sense of security when it comes to &#8216;safer sex,&#8217; but are also taught to rely upon Planned Parenthood for reproductive health services. In many cases, trusting Planned Parenthood <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-bad-teens-parents\/\">has not panned out well for minors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Live Action <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthoodexposed.com\/sexed\/\">investigations show<\/a> Planned Parenthood staffers giving\u00a0minors sexually explicit and disturbing information, including recommending porn and BDSM practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Planned Parenthood is not the only place for healthcare\u00a0services, including and especially cancer screenings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-can-be-replaced-health-clinics-outnumber-them-20-to-1\/\">outnumbered by the thousands<\/a>\u00a0when it comes to healthcare. With\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/health-clinics-nationwide-compared-to-planned-parenthood-centers\/\">13,000 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)<\/a>\u00a0available in this country, Planned Parenthood&#8217;s cancer screenings are <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/learn\/3percent\/#numbers\">minuscule<\/a>.\u00a0Planned Parenthood provides <em>zero<\/em> mammograms, 1.8 percent of breast exams, and 0.97 percent of Pap smears. Women are clearly\u00a0going somewhere else for cancer screenings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yJeLTE7aG78\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Even if Planned Parenthood were to close locations, whether it&#8217;s due to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-in-illinois-closing-due-to-lack-of-demand\/\"> a lack of demand<\/a>, a desire to focus and commit more to the locations performing abortions, or any other reason, women will not be in horrific\u00a0situations.
