There will soon be two states without a Planned Parenthood facility.\u00a0The last standing Planned Parenthood location in the state of Wyoming is slated to close in July, which will make the Equality State and North Dakota the only two states not housing the abortion corporation, the Casper Star Tribune<\/a>\u00a0reports.<\/p>\n

The facility opened in 1975 and sees\u00a0roughly 500 clients\u00a0a year. Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains’ Adrienne Mansanares<\/a> said<\/a>:<\/p>\n

We looked at what services we provided. We also looked at the financial health of the health center. Our No. 1 priority and concern is to ensure that we have coordination of care for our patients. We\u2019ll be working really closely with our patients to make sure we get them connected to another provider.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

Mansanares accidentally admits in her statement that Planned Parenthood is not necessary for women in the state because of the selection of health providers and community health centers. The Casper Star Tribune notes:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The fact that Casper had other places for women to receive comprehensive reproductive health care was a factor in the decision to close the Planned Parenthood clinic here, Mansanares said to the Casper paper.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Wyoming Public Media<\/a>\u00a0acknowledges\u00a0this, too, in its story on the closure, reporting<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are making some difficult but necessary changes and this is really so that we can continue to meet patients\u2019 needs in both the short term and the long term,\u201d said\u00a0Mansanares[.]<\/p>\n

Mansanares\u00a0said they expect Casper\u2019s 500 annual patients to be able to get care from other providers in town, including the Community Health Center of Central Wyoming.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The decision to close the Planned Parenthood facility\u00a0demonstrates some telling priorities. First, the Planned Parenthood\u00a0location does not commit\u00a0abortions but\u00a0offers birth control, testing for pregnancy, and abortion referrals.<\/p>\n

Without the profit abortion brings, it’s certainly not a money-making facility for Planned Parenthood. Abortion is obviously the priority, since Mansanares “emphasized<\/a> that Planned Parenthood would continue to have a presence in the state through the Wyoming Abortion Fund, which connects women to abortion providers, and by continuing to offer sexual education resources.”<\/p>\n

What is more telling, however, is that Planned Parenthood’s reasoning for shutting down this facility actually shows how the abortion corporation is not necessary for\u00a0women’s health care. By its\u00a0own acknowledgment, Planned Parenthood\u00a0is shutting down because women have other options for health care in the region. This, however, flies in the face of its claims surrounding federal defunding efforts.<\/p>\n
