Anthony List Gala dinner in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite all the promises that were made, despite the tireless work of everyone in this room to stop it so many years ago, Obamacare has allowed taxpayer money to be used to purchase health insurance that covers abortion, among all of its other failings,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-video\" data-location=\"3\" data-yturl=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XQ7hAz4yBQM\">\n<div class=\"article-video-embed\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XQ7hAz4yBQM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Pence told the pro-lifers that President Trump remains \u201cunwavering in his commitment to defend life and protect women and children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd that commitment will be on full display this week \u2014 if you haven&#8217;t heard the news yet \u2014 because tomorrow, thanks to President Trump\u2019s leadership, Congress is going to vote to repeal and replace Obamacare. And when they vote to repeal and replace Obamacare, we will finally defund Planned Parenthood,\u201d he said to applause.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"SandboxRoot env-bp-350\" data-twitter-event-id=\"0\">\n<div class=\"resize-sensor\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-165718 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-05-at-3.47.34-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"498\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-05-at-3.47.34-PM.png 498w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-05-at-3.47.34-PM-300x269.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>While this is the second time Pence has addressed the Susan B. Anthony List Gala dinner, it is his first time as Vice President. His first occasion was in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Pence called the day Obamacare passed a \u201cday of disappointment for the sanctity of life\u201d in America because of its funding of abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut hope is finally shining through. The bill before the Congress actually eliminates Obamacare\u2019s abortion expansion and it defunds Planned Parenthood, and keeps the President\u2019s promise to devote those resources to healthcare providers that help women without promoting abortion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen this bill passes, it, I believe, will be one of the defining victories for life,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>As Pence expected, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/breaking-us-house-votes-on-trumpcare\">U.S. House today voted<\/a> 217 to 213 to defund Planned Parenthood and repeal Obamacare, sending its replacement, &#8220;TrumpCare,&#8221; to the Senate. The American Healthcare Act (AHCA) strips Planned Parenthood of most of its federal funding for the next year.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, however, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/all\/today#article-breaking-us-senate-votes-on-omnibus-budget-bill\">U.S. Senate voted<\/a> 79 to 18 to pass an omnibus budget that funds Planned Parenthood in a deal made by Republicans and Democrats to prevent a temporary government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>Pence said that defunding the abortion giant in the House of Representatives is the \u201cfirst stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen we head to the United States Senate,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He called the Congressional vote a \u201cpivotal moment in the life of this movement\u201d and in the
