Res. 43, a resolution that\u00a0overturns the Obama rule forcing states to fund Planned Parenthood. The former president&#8217;s rule prohibited states from redirecting taxpayer funds from the abortion giant to more competent and comprehensive health care providers, effectively eliminating the right of states to protect their citizens from the <a href=\"\/news\/evidence-widespread-corruption-in-planned-parenthood-of-the-rocky-mountains\/\">corruption<\/a>, <a href=\"\/news\/report-planned-parenthood-found-engaging-in-medicaid-fraud\/\">Medicaid fraud<\/a>, and <a href=\"\/news\/meet-babies-born-at-24-weeks-same-age-planned-parenthood-willing-kill-them\/\">human rights<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/liveactionnews.org\/planned-parenthood-consistent-cover-up-child-sexual-abuse\/\">abuses<\/a> exposed at Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution was sponsored by Congresswoman Diane Black in the House and Senator Joni Ernst in the Senate. Black and Ernst <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/marking-a-new-era-committed-to-protecting-our-most-vulnerable\/article\/2613098\">called<\/a> Obama&#8217;s parting gift to Planned Parenthood an\u00a0&#8220;11<sup>th<\/sup> hour rule to entrench federal funding for Planned Parenthood \u2013 the nation&#8217;s single largest provider of abortion.&#8221; The duo <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/marking-a-new-era-committed-to-protecting-our-most-vulnerable\/article\/2613098\">pledged<\/a> to &#8220;continue to work together this year to undo the damage done by the Obama administration.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/pence-saves-senate-resolution-to-kill-obamas-abortion-rule\/article\/2618870\">vote held this morning<\/a>\u00a0was to advance H.J. Res. 43 to a final passage vote. Senators\u00a0Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, voted against advancement, in step with the Democrats, including Senators Joe Donnelly, D-Indiana, and Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, who claim to be pro-life. Due to the 50-50 tie, Vice President Mike Pence came to the Senate to cast the deciding vote.
